Ultimate_Game Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 of Kapil's Devils conquering the world on June 25, 1983 :yay: IMO it was one of the best odi units to have played the game with a bunch of all-rounders in Madan Lal, Rogers Binny, Mohinder Amarnath and of course Kapil Dev. The team batted deep with Kirmani coming in at 10 with nearly 7-8 bowlers who could bowl. No wonder this team won the World Cup and followed up with Benson & Hedges World Championship win 2 years down the road where we added likes of Shastri, Sadanath Vishwanath and Sivaramakrishnan to the team.

It was no fluke as India beat WI twice in the World Cup and were the first team to beat WI in the WC in the WC. During that timespan India actually beat WI 3 times out of 4 - first time in an odi in WI and 2 out of 3 times in WC. And India followed up the win by winning the World Championship in 85 by beating Pakis in the final :two_thumbs_up:
