Needforspeed Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 test now.. unless we start beating teams outside of home again which is almost impossible we dont have a chance We can still get ahead of Pakistan before end of 2012 in Test rankings. We have 6 tests coming up before end of year while Pakistan have none.
deathmonger Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 test now.. unless we start beating teams outside of home again which is almost impossible we dont have a chance if we win all our next three home series 2-0 we should be no 1.
deathmonger Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 India would need to whitewash both NZ and England while hoping that England doesn't lose many points in SA series. Not gonna happen. defeating england and oz both 2-0 will do as well i guess.
Old guy Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 We can still get ahead of Pakistan before end of 2012 in Test rankings. We have 6 tests coming up before end of year while Pakistan have none. thats easy if we win all our next three home series 2-0 we should be no 1. umm really its that easy ? so south africa, english series does not matter at all ?
deathmonger Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 thats easy umm really its that easy ? so south africa, english series does not matter at all ? either way england/oz will be in top 3 by the time we play them. since we are now a lower ranked team (:(() defeating a higher ranked team will get us huge jumps. case in point: pakistan defeating england this year.
Needforspeed Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 defeating england and oz both 2-0 will do as well i guess. Are u sure?. As of now England's rating is 122 while ours is only 104. Can we really make up so much, especially as we are not going to improve rating by much even if we win against NZ (Lower ranked team).

deathmonger Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Are u shore. As of now England's rating is 122 while ours is only 104. Can we really make up so much' date=' especially as we are not going to improve rating by much even if we win against NZ (Lower ranked team).[/quote'] defeating higher rated teams gives huge jumps. like pakistan did this year. and i am saying after the aus tour as well. just defeating england 2-0 with nz 2-0 will get us 112-113 points. after defeating oz we can be no 1.
deathmonger Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 ya i know but 4 teams are ahead of us we will get ahead of pakistan if we win for sure maybe australia too top 2 dont know if we win all three series we'll definitely be in top 2. coz sa has series against eng and oz as well. assuming we win all our home series and sa wins against eng and oz, sa will be no 1 and we number 2 as both eng/oz have lost to sa/ind. if sa wins only one of the series and loses the other (assuming we win all our home series) the top 3 will be india, sa and the one sa lost against.

Old guy Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 let's see. batting was ok in west indies home series. i think we collapsed once or twice :P dravid did gr8 in that series .. laxman will perform worse then that now and bowling line up of england is much much better
carnish Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Whatever Happens I will be very Happy if India wins this Bilateral Series against Pakistan 3-0 and beats England in the test Series. I dont mind if we loose to NZL(We Wont) or Australia but these two series we cant flonk.

I just want one thing - India in the Top 2,3 by the end of this year and Top 1 by the end of the next year. I don't care whether they lose to Pakistan or Bangladesh in the interim. But, I WANT them to win against Australia and England
saneindian Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 This is the only break the Indian team would have got after 5 months of non-stop cricket and before another 5 months of non-stop cricket inlcluding IPL 2013. Would have given some time for players to recover for minor niggles and injuries. World T20 will give us a break of 10-12 days after we customarily get knocked out in first round :yay: :(( Plus hopefully BCCI will be preparing proper turning tracks with tests ending by day 3 during the 4 tests vs England giving the team enough rest :)

CLT20 ends on 20th October and our first test against England starts on 15th Nov. that a rest of about 17 days .. Plus not even all our players will be playing in CLT20 .. now if you talk about preparations during that period and hence no rest then we also need to prepare during december break and there can be no better prepartaion for a ODI series than another ODI series with an international side.
Pagalpanti Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Can't believe still people are hoping to be no.1 by end of year? We are doomed in test cricket, we had a batting attack that carried a mediocre test bowling with it. Now with most of the batting prowess gone we will be vulnerable at home as well. Beating Eng 4-0? I'd take a 1-0 with current team.
