Are you suggesting that Kiran More, Vijay Dahiya, Ratra etc. are better than Dhoni ? Do you think Wriddhiman Saha or Dinesh Kartik could be a replacement for Dhoni ? Dhoni is leagues better these guys. He is the best wk batsman in the world at the moment and one of the best finishers ever in the history of cricket. With all the luggage in the team like Zaheer, Gambhir and Sachin(based on current form), I find it surprising that some people choose to target Dhoni for some reason.

Engineer and Kirmani kept to our spin quartet, which was extremely difficult, all while maintaining a very good batting average for their eras. As a batsman, Mongia was worse than Dhoni, he was just below average. More's average of 27 is less than Dhoni but he batted in difficult batting conditions compared to today hence the difference is much lesser than what you can take from the numbers alone. Karthik is a more accomplished with the bat in difficult conditions than dhoni though he sucks with the gloves so I dont even count him in the list. Wow. Really . On a serious note, the only WK from India I would put down to rival Dhoni is Farookh Engineer. In my books, Engineer was a better WK batsman than Dhoni.

Isnt every post on the forum the same there are a few clips scattered across youtube but there isnt a lot of footage available. That holds true for most of our greats in the 70s and 80s to a certain extent. Are they not to be rated because of that. Engineer averaged 31 in an era where batting was far more difficult. Fact or not? Dhoni averages 38 in the modern era. Whom do you rate as a better batsman?

It is not my fault if cheerleaders and Bhakts jumped on it without bothering to understand what was written. I replied to SaneIndian what I meant. The point was not that Dhoni asked Roach to bowl the no balls, it was that he failed in the other three innings by scoring 0,8,13. And the one inning where he did do well, he was extremely lucky to make it to a century despite being caught behind twice off the same bowler because the ball was not legal. Everyone gets lucky now and then, but when your only decent performance is because of a lucky reprieve, your batting ability will be questioned, and rightly so
