DLF did not choose to end it. The contract is coming to an end. As is the contract for hotels, umpires sponsors etc. I suppose it was a 5 year contract period at first. Now that IPL is actually much more popular than was expected, these contracts will go for higher value. If DLF doesnt doesnt want to spend more, they will obviously not get the contract. Its probably gonna be called called Airtel IPL, Videocon IPL or Hero IPL for the next 5 years.

I don't think it makes a difference on the IPL except for BCCI's coffers. It's not like the billionaires who own IPL teams will be worried at the withdrawal of a sponsor. IPL will be in the sh!te if IPL owners start pulling out.
