Ponka Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Hello all, Lets analyze the players performance on scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest of course. Starting with England: Cook - 10 (u cant do better than him, highest scorer in series, captain, savior etc) Compton - 7 (good partner to cook, played useful knocks here n there) Trott - 8 (Finished the series on a high, played last 2 useful innings for team) Pieterson - 9 (Second highest scorer for England n the reason why England was able to comeback in 2nd test, best SR in the series as well wid 4 tests) Bell - 5 (average performance in the series, century on a flat track otherwise would have got 3) Root - 7 (as a youngster played one good innings under pressure, his first and only chance he got on this tour) Prior - 9 (very vital contributions deep down, making sure Eng made 50-100+ runs with last 4 batters, brilliant behind stumps too cant recall him dropping a catch either etc) Swann - 9 ( 20 wickets highest in the series btw, but one great test match, rest of the times he wasnt that deadly as stats suggest but didnt let team down either) Monty - 9 ( 17 wickets , second highest for Eng and third overall in series. Again one great test match and other times wasnt deadly, however didnt let team down when needed) Anderson - 8 (as a fast bowler, great series especially as the series went ahead. Made sachin his bunny even in india) Finn - 8 (only played one match and was great in that. Always preferred him over Bresnan) Bresnan - 2 (Played 2 tests and got no wickets at all, India played him well, had couple of chances go to slips on his bowling.. 2 for putting in the effort) India: Sehwag - 6 (Just one good innings to show, otherwise below average performance. No intensity in the field, best sleep fielder, behaved like a walking dead man while fielding) Gambhir - 5 (2 good 50's but thats about it, behaved like a total stranger to conditions in home conditions otherwise) Pujara - 9 (only one to show he could play English bowlers well with ashwin, Highest scorer from india, well done!) Tendulkar - 1 (poor absolutely poor in the series while being selfish, please retire) Kohli - 5 (average in the series, one good knock in last test otherwise didnt really trouble english bowlers, also amateurish attitude) Dhoni - 5 (average in the series, his tactics weren't attacking either, lacked game plan approach at various times and not dropping under performers in the series. Only getting 5 cuz he saved India in final test otherwise 3-1 was on cards) Jadeja - 6 (played well with the only chance he got, got vital english wickets on flat track) Ashwin - 8 (Because he batted well above his potential and showed that if doing the basic right the others could have batted well, however not that great with the ball as was expected to run through english team) Harbhajan Singh - 0 (Disaster, glad he only played 1 game) Yuvraj Singh - 2 (Disappointment but scored more runs than tendulkar in less matches) Zaheer khan - 1 (Disgraceful bowling by him, should not have played more than 2 tests, lacked intensity in bowling and fielding, looked like he's over 50) Ojha - 8 (bowled well, highest wicket taker in the series alongside Swann but SR sucked. Also was unlucky a lot of times) Yadav - 7 (Played well with the only chance he got in the series, unlucky) Ishant - 4 (Poor performance except last test) Morale : Drop over-age, selfish , under performers and include new players in future series otherwise same will repeat. Put in ur points as well. Thanks. Sincerely Ponka :hatsoff:
Nova Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Sehwag - best sleep fielder, behaved like a walking dead man while fielding) True. He sleeps, in the slips, more than other Indian fielders. :cantstop:
vayuu1 Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Ashwin shud be given 2 for his mighty bowling avg of 50
maverick451 Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 I dont think Ashwin deserves the same mark as Jimmy Anderson, id give Ashwin only a 6
Crookbond Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst the performance was 19. 9mrZ16-wuWc
Yoda-esque Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 GG- 4 Sehwag-3 Che - 8 SRT - 0 Kohli - 2 MSD - 3 UV - 2 Ashwin - 5 Ojha - 6 Zaheer - 3
Nova Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 SRT - 0 Very harsh. You are being prejudiced that he has not retired already. This is about the series, and he did score a well played 76. So he deserves at least 1 if not 2. I would like that 1 point from you boy.. :hitler:

Ponka Posted December 17, 2012 Author Posted December 17, 2012 I dont think Ashwin deserves the same mark as Jimmy Anderson' date=' id give Ashwin only a 6[/quote'] Fact is that Ashwin with his mediocre bowling still got 14 wickets in the series :S which is third highest number wise. Plus he did put in the effort, one could see he's not laughing around, taking it easy in the field. when given the bowl he did try what he had and also with the bat, hence the rating 8 from ponka. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/records/bowling/most_wickets_career.html?id=7339;type=series
