Old guy Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Lack of concentration. too bad that is also part of cricket :)
CG Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 too bad that is also part of cricket :) It can be improved. He has a good season in fc and looked good in whatever international matches he has played till now this season.
Old guy Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 It can be improved. He has a good season in fc and looked good in whatever international matches he has played till now this season. yes and that is wht i want...but getting bowled against sri lankan tundlers u have got no excuse people need to understand technique isnt everything (and also rohit has no perfect technique ) cricket is gr8 game cos people like smith can also succeed ... if u can be successful with so call flawed technique then other things dont matter right now imo tiwary deserves chance ahead of rohit
bharat297 Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 and this is worst part of people who just listen to commies and blindly follow there words...sigh in the end performance counts rohit with his awesome perfect atg technique most of times never middles the ball instead his middle stump is always uprooted hope u can see that too heck i guess even his getting bowled is technically correct? just cos chappel said so ?:giggle: Of course end performance is what counts but without technique it is not sustainable. Look at Gambhir over the past year. He scores most of his runs in ODIs by edging it through 3rd man, but with this technique he consistently falls in Tests. This is where you need to look past end performance and look at the way he scores his runs. India deserve to be where they are if this is their mentality. Lets just use ODI cricket to pick our Test side. The problem with hearing every opinion is that people with just blatantly wrong opinions who admittedly said they don't know that much about technique all of a sudden have their opinions presented on an equal footing as people that do know what they're talking about (cricketing experts). Just because my opinion is backed up by cricketing experts, whereas yours is not you've accused me of mindlessly following their word. There is no point arguing anymore.
Old guy Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 oh im not in favor of this policy...but way ur dismissing tiwary is totally wrong im gonna ask again how did ya judge tiwary ? from odis ? cos if u can dismiss him by seeing in that format then ur no diff from indian selectors ... and again ur bringing in experts... im tlaking about pure performance and missing straight balls maybe there is perfect technique for doing that too ? :omg:

Do you even read my posts! Did I say I was dismissing Tiwary??? I said I'd pick him a No.6!!!! Also, name me a batsman that hasn't missed a ful straight one. He has a bad series ... yes. So drop him from ODIs. Like I said. But he's scoring well at Ranji and has for many years, so pick him in Tests once Sachin retires. What part of that don't you get?!?!?!? Do me a favour and read my posts before responding.

Bumper Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Indian selectors are fracking retarded. They reward Yuvraj's ODI performances with a test spot, don't even consider Rohit Sharma for tests as he continues to flop in the shorter forms, continue to pick Rahane for T20 (which is like a recipe built to kill the technique of a promising youngster). In between they recycle Bhajji, Raina as and when necessary. With the poverty of tailunt ailing our cricket, I'd add Harmeet Singh, Unmukt chand and the likes to the list of prospects to experiment with. If all these young guys grow up playing T20, they may lose their technique/drive/temperament to play test cricket.
bharat297 Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 I said rohit has better technique. And I said if I was picking one I'd go with rohit but I said I'd pick both
Bumper Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Bharat, What do you think about Badrinath's technique ? Why did he not fare well at the top level, in spite of his better technique ? I don't know about others, but i think Gambhir will bounce back. He's mentally strong & given our piss poor talent pool, is worth backing.
bharat297 Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 I think with Badrinath the problem was he wasn't given an extended run at Test level. Back in 2008 when a spot opened up, I thought Badrinath should have been given the first go instead of Yuvraj. From a technical point of view, he occassionally collapses on the back-foot when playing the hook or pull but other than that he has a pretty decent technique. Steep bounce would test him though. Regarding Gambhir my biggest issue with Gambhir is that his main scoring shot in ODI cricket (something that works very well for him) consistently gets him out in Test cricket. So he's caught in 2 minds. I agree he is mentally tough and a big game player but right now I think there are other openers at Ranji that deserve a chance at Test level. Maybe Vijay and Rahane shoud be given a chance.

He is the best spinner in India at the moment but I am really worried he will be forced to prove himself in T20 and ODI cricket and learn to bowl darts instead of throwing it up there and attacking. Then people will say "Oh he can't get any wickets". India have a real talent in Harmeet ... I doubt they will manage him properly though.
King Tendulkar Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 It's not excuses. I am saying he should be dropped from the ODI and T20 side. Picking players in the wrong format doesn't do anyone justice. Look at Pujara ... Strong first-class record and given a chance in Tests. Not asked to go prove himself in ODIs and T20s. He has shown he is capable (at least at home) in Test cricket. Rohit's first-class record is very strong. When Tendulkar gives up Test cricket, Rohit Sharma should be given the opportunity. Just imagine if pujara had debuted in t20s and odis. He would have struggled and would be slaughtered. He was the rare one they got right as identified format he is good for and played him there. Rohit is test match type player yet plays t20s and odis. Selectors are idiots

Selectors are idiots May be he would have done well T20s-May be not but he would have done well in ODIs. Rohit can't complain much. If you get chances you got to make it count- whichever format it is. Unfortunately, ODI performances are considered for test spots in the indian team:giggle:
King Tendulkar Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Put the indian selctors in charge of england team, they would have debuted Cook in T20s, then if done well there played him in odis, then if did ok there played him in tests. Of course england did the exact oppsite and rightly so. Are our selctors capable of identifying who is test type player or odi player etc etc. I mean jadeja/raina in tests shows the selctors have no idea
The Dark Horse Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 I mean jadeja/raina in tests shows the selctors have no idea yea

Selectors are idiots There is no evidence to suggest that Pujara would struggle in ODIs. In fact, Pujara has excellent ODI credentials; he was the highest scorer in the U-19 World Cup in 2006 and has the highest List-A average for any cricketer in India. He averages 57 with 25 50+ scores (including 8 centuries) in 61 matches. Meanwhile, while you bash selectors, also give them credit for giving a break to Bhubaneshwar Kumar.

You cannot call Harmeet Singh India's best spinner just by seeing him in an U-19 tournament where he bowled to a bunch of U-19 kids. He has been extremely poor in India till then - Vijay Hazare Trophy - 1/36 (in 6 overs), 0/74 Irani Trophy - 0/45, 4/45 Duleep Trophy - 2/147, 2/41 2/127 against the English Performance Squad. Is far far away from a Mumbai Ranji Trophy spot and there are plenty of spinners in the country who have better figures right now.
