It gets better : Sami accused of faking injury

to get out of Australia 'A' matches. :cantstop::cantstop:

KARACHI: For many, pacer Mohammad Sami is the obvious replacement for Shoaib Akhtar in Pakistan’s 15-man squad for the Twenty20 World Cup but there is a little problem, writes Khalid Hussain. Sami ‘avoided’ playing in the ongoing home series against Australia A after submitting a medical certificate which said that doctors have advised him a ten-day rest because of a minor groin injury and viral fever. This means that Sami still has to rest for a few more days before he returns to training but he doesn’t have much time because Pakistan open their T20 title campaign in South Africa with their opening Group D game against Scotland on September 12. A source in the PCB told ‘The News’ that top Board officials suspect that Sami faked an injury to get out of the series against Australia A and add that such behaviour may go against him when the national selectors take a decision over Shoaib’s replacement today. Sami was a bit unlucky to miss out on a place in the Pakistani T20 squad as he has really improved in both bowling and batting and is regarded as one of the best fielders in the national team. In spite of his decision to skip the series against Australia A, Sami remains the best man to replace Shoaib in the Pakistan squad because of the fact that there is no genuine pacer in the national team following Shoaib’s exit. The national selectors are also considering young pacer Najaf Shah and rookie all-rounder Sohail Tanvir but neither of them can provide Pakistan with real pace. The Pakistani team already has a number of medium pacers like Mohammad Asif, Umar Gul and Rao Iftikhar Anjum. Meanwhile, PCBís Chief Operating Officer Shafqat Naghmi told ‘The News’ that he has received a request from the team management to send a replacement to South Africa. “We have informed the national selection committee and expect that a replacement player will be announced on Saturday.”
