It is tough but doable. NE boasts of some of the most picturesque part of India. And its people are also generally a very lively bunch and also simpleton. It has became progressively worse because somehow as we have developed as a nation, we also chose to leave behind those who were behind. A strong Bengal is vital in my opinion for the East. You simply can not see seven sisters develop without that. Tourism is also another thing we can improve on. The more the Indians travel to NE the more there would be a sense of what a treasure we have.

Obviously it has to happen from both the sides. I think 7 sisters also need to bring up on good governance while Center providing necessary resources as a part of development strategy. But I doubt Bengal is ready to take on that leadership role as yet. They are still engulfed in the basic problems. Employment issue is predominantly because of very unconducive policies. Not much of a visible change even after the new regime. Employment scenario will only change once they work hard towards getting some big investments in the local economy. Every time, I think of NE, that is exactly what comes to my mind, tourism. After unstable Kashmir, NE has a great potential to be one of the best place of South Asia for tourism. Trust me if the youth is engaged in more productive way, these rapes and other oppressions would recede.

It's a win win for the rapists all across the country. Also, the ones that do get reported doesn't end up with any conviction and the rapist walks free. You're more likely to be caught and sent to jail for stealing than raping.
