I think Lyon still is a good bowler. I think Australia have to remember a couple of things: 1) They're not going to find a Shane Warne but even Shane Warne got smashed in India the first few times. India are very good players of spin bowling. Nathan Lyon is still very inexperienced and for the number of games he's played, he's doing a lot better than many other spinners in history. 2) With 1 front-line spinner in the team (whether its Lyon or Doherty or even Warne), you can't score < 350 in your first innings against India and expect to be able defend that. Australia's batsman are letting them down and they've dropped the spinners instead.

So yep Murali Vijay the man for the job, GG better work on more for saving his seat in limited over games. IMO benched player Tiwary atm more eligible & deserving to get in the nat squad than GG.

He's not meant to be a bowler actually. It's the same thing they did with Cameron Smith in 2008. Maxwell is a batting all-rounder they have picked at No.8 in the bowling slot. It doesn't make any sense. Australia blundered by not picking Steven O'Keefe. He's a left-arm orthodox who is a decent batsman too. They could have combined him with Lyon and pick Krejza probably as the back up offspinner.

You combined Cameron White from 2008 series and Steve Smith from 2010 series to make a new player named Cameron Smith in 2013. Amusing!

Not really. He's a bits & pieces player in the mould of players Eng used to field in 90s a la Ealhams, Hoallioakes, Dougie Browns etc. At the end of the day they could neither score nor take wkts. Same with Maxwell, Steven Smith and Cameron White.

He is an AR with an avg. of under 35 in Aussie conditions. As a all round spin bowler he is expected to deliver in these (Indian/SC) conditions.

He is mainly an LOI player.
