vamos_rafa Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I think he was taken to task when he did that but Sehwag was let off for doing the same (I believe on the same player - Sreesanth). Different yardsticks for different players :om:
King Tendulkar Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 To be fair its sensible to not criticise players in public and only in private. In public should support players.

There is a big diff .Yes sehwag said everybody did well except sreesanth.Yes he should not have said it.But what dhoni did was unacceptable he sided with smith and put down sreesanth in press conference and then in the middle of the match when sreesanth was doing well. We all know how dhoni lost his mojo when swann and co abused him.so his double standards are evident even P.k and jadeja in the eng series were behaving like dogs on leash from master dhoni and abusing england players even after match ended during shaking hands .

If Sreesanth behaved in an unacceptable manner to the game of cricket, he said the truth just like Sehwag said the truth about Sreesanth not performing on the cricket field. None of us were on the field so we don't really know what Sreesanth said. It isn't the first time a captain has censured a player in public and wouldn't be the last one. Also, one must be really pushing it to argue that Sreesanth wasn't an irritation with his antics. I understand your hate for Dhoni and some points like "conflict of interest" with N Srinivasan/CSK are valid but stop blaming Dhoni for every time there's no water supply in the home tank. Learn to draw the line and maintain equanimity.

NareshK Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Captain must back his team mates and not talk against them in public. He could always have a word with him in private. Whatever happens on the field in the heat of the moment, players do it for the team. Have you ever seen SA or Aus captain defend opposition team members over his team mates ? They stand by their team mates come what may because that's the spirit of the team. What Dhoni did affects the confidence and mindset of a player who is trying his best to win the game for the team.

NareshK Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 But have to say, Sreesanth is a type of guy who is hard to control. Even Ganguly has a bad opinion about Sree and once said in post match show that irrespective of what he is told, he does whatever he wants to. Maybe Dhoni did have a talk with Sree many times in private and yet he didnt listen and Dhoni got frustrated and spoke against him in public. :dontknow:
