If they want to pick him as a bowler then that's a different story, but at the moment by playing him at No.7, he is being selected as an allrounder and right now his batting is not good enough to warrant him being classified as an allrounder. I don't think his bowling is as good as Ojha's at the moment either, so I don't see a spot for him in the side.

Play oijha for bhaji and play rhjane/rohit for jadeja. Play an all rounder if he is actual all rounder. Not cos he is handy with both.
But the problem is Ishant and BK are not good enough on Indian tracks. Only one of them should play. Otherwise, Ojha and Ashwin have to bowl 50+ overs which will be too much work load. Jadeja's role is more of a support bowler and he is doing that job decently. In overseas conditions, he shouldnt play in test team.

I think tactically what India were looking for was: * Ashwin - the spinner with the variations * Jadeja - the defensive spinner that can hold down one end * Harbhajan - the genuine attacking spinner who can turn it But Harbhajan didn't really attack except for a few spells here and there, so if they are going to get rid of Harbhajan, they need a spinner who can be a genuine turner which can only be Ojha. To me the selection of Jadeja can only be about this question: Is Jadeja's worth as a defensive spinner and a fielder greater value to the team than a specialist batsman? It's really more about Jadeja vs Rahane. Unless you want to go with 1 paceman.

Yeah I'm saying that was what India were probably looking at tactically but Harbhajan didn't deliver.
yes.. im not saying ur saying something wrong.. just the thinking of team! its totally like this also i think having many left handers in australian side motivated them to play off spinners..

Yeah true. I think it was probably the right tactic but Harbhajan didn't execute in the first innings. Having said that, the game is perfectly set up for him to take control in the second innings. The pitch is turning square and if Harbhajan can't bowl attackingly on this deck then I don't know if he can ever can.

On the Star Sports coverage after stumps they showed Lyon's pitch map and when he pitched 4m or fuller his figures were 3/43. Harbhajan needs to take note of this and pitch fuller where the rough is. Ashwin can afford to pitch it a bit shorter because Ashwin has the variation in bounce. Jadeja needs to do what he did in the first innings and hold down 1 end.

Probably ... but they took a gamble given Harbhajan's record against Australia. In hindsight they should have gone with Ojha but they probably thought about the extra left-handers and Bhajji's record against Australia.
yeah ..i would forgive them if they dont make this same mistake again :winky: but if bhajji plays even 1 more match then there is no excuse
