I think tactically what India were looking for was: * Ashwin - the spinner with the variations * Jadeja - the defensive spinner that can hold down one end * Harbhajan - the genuine attacking spinner who can turn it But Harbhajan didn't really attack except for a few spells here and there, so if they are going to get rid of Harbhajan, they need a spinner who can be a genuine turner which can only be Ojha. To me the selection of Jadeja can only be about this question: Is Jadeja's worth as a defensive spinner and a fielder greater value to the team than a specialist batsman? It's really more about Jadeja vs Rahane. Unless you want to go with 1 paceman.
I think we should play 3 spinners on these tracks v Aus.so Ojha comes in for Bhajji n Jaddu is at 7.Dhoni is doing well at 6 anyway. so,to answer your question,Jadeja's worth as a 3rd spinner who can bat is more than a specialist bat,looking at our bowling resources.and I dont think he was asked to be defensive only.If that was the case,he'd have bowled over the wicket onto the pads ala Paul Harris,but he was looking to take wickets that said Rahane should come in for Vijay imo.if we play 1 seamer then again Jaddu makes it

Jadeja cannot bat.Ashwin is a better bet than jaddu.Our batting may have done well this match but hyderabad,mohali will have more bounce and edges will carry.We will need a proper batsman.

Jaddu will only fail and fail ,He does not have the technique nor the temperament to bat at this level.2 spinners are good enough ,Third spinner is always underbowled .

Jaddu will only fail and fail ' date='He does not have the technique nor the temperament to bat at this level.2 spinners are good enough ,Third spinner is always underbowled .[/quote'] yeah 3rd is underbowled,but with 3 you have option of which to underbowl i.e. the non performing one.with two you are stuck if one is not bowling well.dont expect 20 wickets from 2 spinners and trundlers,third one always comes in handy,even if 2-3 wickets I did not ask for your expert prediction,I asked what you are basing it on when you say Ashwin is better bat?can only be 2 innings Jaddu has played so far,because in other cricket,Jadeja has outbatted him.

Ashwin has a better technique and temperament than jadeja.Jadeja is a hack who will fail more times .Also its not about how may he scored .Jadeja looked awful in both innings against pace.Even bhuvi looked better than jadeja.

he has scored runs far better than Ashwin in both FC n ODIs.but lets ignore that n judge only by 2 innings yes Bhuvi looked better too.he looked better than Sehwag n Vijay too.should open next innings:nice:

:hysterical: Ashwin averages 45 in test and has played some good knock in aus too.If Fc average were everything rohit sharma would be playing.
