Texan Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Fair enough. I will keep that in mind for future interactions. I have accepted I was wrong on Dhawan's selection - check Post #192. That was before the quoted post above. Not the first time I'm wrong, not the last time either. May I have an answer about Rahane as an opener? Just because Rahane failed in his only Test does not mean he doesn't deserve any more chances. Yes, Rahane has opened in the past and could serve in my opinion as an opener in Test matches. However, it seemed that the selection committee had mentioned picking him as a middle-order batsman. Nevertheless, I felt that he definitely deserved his chance much earlier than he got it.
Texan Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Can you post the link to the thread please? THe only one I remember is that zep dude who said dhoni is the worst. Dhoni is definitely not the worst. If you divide Indian captains of the past into two groups based on captaincy skills, then Dhoni should be in the upper half. Every captain has strengths and weaknesses. Dhoni's big weakness is his inflexibility. He relies on the same bunch of cricketers and doesn't seem much willing to change in adversity. Other captains have limitations too.

So, since you thing that Rahane was an option for an opener in that case MS Dhoni should get some credit for picking Dhawan over Rahane, no?
