Texy Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 :omg: hits that soft spot! Love it what about that gora on instruments? music has no borders That gora is Shankar Tucker and he studied Indian classical music under Hariprasad Chaurasia. There are many like him deeply involved in Indian classical music scene especially with sitar, electric sitar & tabla.
Texy Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 I don't want to hijack Ravi's ghazal thread but found this Tamil classic carnatic video on Shankar Tucker's channel....absolutely beautiful ib3r6mPD3aY :hatsoff:
Crookbond Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Thanks Tex. I head this ghazal on The Shruti Box first. You can find more about Shankar Tucker and The Shruti Box here - http://www.shankartucker.com/music
CasualVisitor Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 m3ZyU98N3Fk Thanks Dex for sharing the same. I find this one better than, dare I say, Farida-ji.
DomainK Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 dislike. I've heard better versions of this Dude, this is the original. Farida Khanum was the first one to sing it and make it popular. Most other signers basically try to copy her. Yeah, the recording is old and the quality is not good, but all great singers consider this one a classic. And Farida Khanum is widely regarded as great singer.

It's like the song "feeling good - Cy Grant (original)" but after him thousands of people sang it and some have bettered it. Maybe I was too harsh. I dont "dislike" it... just have heard it a sung a little better
