Besides....We are a **** country...but that doesn't mean such horrible crimes do not happen in those places. Who would dare to report them if the victims are as likely to be targeted if not more. Beetle Mautarma, MHR is saying that in a rape case according to his interpretation of the "law" (which you are referring to) the punishment should be on the rapist and not on the woman. Do you disagree?

The punishment is "serious" which includes death penalty. You meant to say compensation for a rape victim is degrading her?!!!! :facepalm: Have a glass of iced water and think about what you just wrote.

In our view the man who rapes a woman, whether she is a virgin or not, if she is a free woman he must pay a “dowry†like that of her peers, and if she is a slave he must pay whatever has been detracted from her value.

Beets,yaar i just quoted the portion which suggests "no punishment for the woman".. well the further punishment for a rapist is highly sever. I didn't put it because some of them considers it too barbaric and i didn't want to start another debate on the punishment.. Well the punishment : If Unmarried : At a Public place - one hundred lashes (each of those lashes can kneel down even an elephant) and harsh banishment for one year. If Married : stoning to death if the person is married. Ultimately the question arises about the girl .. what happens to her.. the guy gets the punishment but the job is half one.. in normal circumstances the women is not accepted in the society and neither her honor can be restored. Just as a compensation the victim is allowed by the court to demand whatever she wants from the rapist.. I hope you know dowry in Islam is paid by the Man which is also called Mehr and this Mehr can be 1 re to 1 cr. (sky is the limit) .. so the court allows the lady to ask for the dowry so that she can start her life once again even if society ditches her.
