fineleg Posted October 15, 2007 Author Posted October 15, 2007 Bumping the thread...some people seemed to have changed opinions on Irfan Pathan should be opening the bowling in ODIs. I still feel IKP should not open the ODI bowling. What are your thoughts?
The Outsider Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Pathan is not good enough to replace either Zaheer, Sreesanth, or RP Singh in tests. Given how toothless our opening bowlers have been in ODIs, there is no harm in giving him the new ball.

Now only if he discovers that outswing too. He is a bowler on mend and I'm sure he'll be back to his best very soon. All the best to him and India too who badly need quality bowlers!!
Rahul Khan Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Irfan bowls well to opening orthodox right-handers and front-foot left-handed batsman...so, in either cases he is effective while opening the bowling alongwith Zaheer Khan!
