Sreesanth, Chandilla and Ankit Chavan arrested for spot fixing in IPL

Some of the media articles are getting more cautious now. FirstPost artticle Even I thought that the Delhi Police commissioner was going overboard by giving a clean chit to all the other players and teams when the investigations had just started.
Few more days this issue will silently die Afterall this is India, lot bigger scams gone without bigshots unpunished. Feel sorry for the inspector who was killed.

The comment in the article is not absolving the three players from the spot fixing charges but rather pointing out to discrepancies from other teams in different capacities which needs to be scrutinized as much if not more as the current spot fixing incident.
The advent of IPL in itself was conflict between and BCCI and ICL. It was never supposed to be an all transparent body. BCCI wanted something which could destroy ICL and they wanted to do it by any means. Lalit Modi was just a pawn in the system who created this. But how? He made calls to everyone he knew from corporate world to Bollywood, his relatives to his friends and assembled them to start IPL. No body was sure how IPL will unfold or how they will be profited but it was Modi who they trusted to become a part of this ambitious league. Conflicts were part of it from day one and without them, it would not have been possible.

Sreesanth is believed to have told investigators of the Delhi Police’s special cell that there was nothing wrong in using a white towel and he used it in the past too in most matches he played. He claimed he is very superstitious and considers white lucky for him.
Yes. He uses the towel all the time. Many players do that. Mohit Sharma from CSK is another one who always have a towel with him.

10 years ago.... Is the gang mentioned D gang ? If so possibly explains why so many fixes in RR http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2003-05-16/news-interviews/27270277_1_shilpa-shetty-extortion-case-surat-police Shilpa Shetty's father faces arrest in extortion case MUMBAI: Facing arrest in an extortion case registered in the textile town of Surat in Gujarat, actress Shilpa Shetty's father Surendra Shetty moved a sessions court here seeking anticipatory bail even as cops from the neighbouring state questioned his younger daughter and upcoming star Shamita Shetty in the same matter. Sessions judge P V Bavkar would hear Shetty's bail plea on Saturday. In all likelihood, he would not be arrested till then as the matter is sub-judice. Shetty pleaded in the petition that he may be given transit bail until he obtained bail from a regular court in Surat. Surat police commissioner V K Gupta told reporters that Shilpa had entered into a modelling deal some years ago with a saree manufacturer who allegedly did not pay her dues. Parents of the actress had allegedly hired an international gang based in Malaysia to recover the amount. An extortion threat was then issued for Rs 1 crore. This information came to light during interrogation of a member of the same gang. Altogether Rs 50,000 cash was recovered from the gangster at the time of his arrest. He has been handed over to Mumbai police for a three-day remand in another case. Umra police in Surat registered a case against Shilpa's parents and the gangster, Gupta said. Armed with a warrant, a team of Surat police arrived here on Friday to arrest Shilpa's father but he had gone to the court. Instead, they questioned Shamita and the interaction lasted for a brief while. Both Shilpa and her mother are abroad.

They followed them for 2 months and spied on their cellphones. I would assume they would know more than you :giggle: The media is just having a field day. Having said that in any developed country anything close to what Neeraj kumar did would have been enough to break the case. The police commissioner clearly had a conflict of interest and was trying to save his own place using this case. Shinde has also applauded him.

As the police commisoner said, the inspector's death was nothing to do with this. You are insulting his memory for your own agenda

But the towel was only there on the second over of his spell and not other overs exactly as he told the bookie

In this particular case' date=' common sense is enough to know they were involved in shady dealings. Whether they are convicted is another matter. But they are never playing cricket again[/quote'] You got hear both sides of story,Thats the point of natural justice.Offcourse there is more chance of sreesanth being involved .

Investigation is going on for last 1-2 months. Only when they were convinced, they arrested these three players. If they had found any other player in this investigation, they would have arrested that player too.

I didn't say he did on purpose or not. I just said he uses it most of the time.
Towel theory is rubbish,It will be easily refuted by lawyers.Police have to prove moneytrail and everything else will follow. Also if jiju and other bookies name sreesanth in court its easily proved.

I find it very funny that our so called politicians are talking about zero tolerance and about handling the toughest punishment to them Now, especially when many of the Congress members have been caught red-handed doing cheating, corruption. Yet, they were defended by these same set of people and various blame games were employed. There are so many bigger issues in our country where convicted people are living easy while these 3 cricketers are being treated as the terrorists. The media themselves are very guilty. Firstly, they bringing up their own guesses/theories to get more TRPs, wonder if there any accountable in our Indian media? They have destroyed careers of many innocent people and yet, they lecture the public on how to behave right..

And on this case, remember it is the Indian police who have to prove that these players did spot fixing rather than these players proving their innocence. Theories such as towers, gestures hardly has any real substance. They did to show the money trial and proper connection with bookies. Just being friends with the bookies can hardly be any evidence. And this investigation itself has to be investigated. That is the most critical thing for me. I am sure there can more names, more high-profile identities involved in this case which the police whether purposefully or mistakenly did not pursue. To even think, that this is the end of the case is a big mistake. A lot of stakeholders in this case.
