In that case , he has to oblidge to no one but BCCI. But a majority of life-benefits that gets is from fan-following. And you cant just isolate the phenomenon of stardom saying - " His job begins and ends on the cricket field" . Cricketers come on TV screens , bill boards. They are part of our everyday life. They are recognised. They definately have social obligation.

Hain ? Asking for an autograph from a cricketer you idolize is no way comparble to asking alms in front of a temple. We make stars out of cricketers , giving them the million. They are incumbent to respect the cricket fan. Signing an autograph is the least thing he can do , in that aspect.

I've been on a flight with the Indian WC 99 team and got autographs from almost all of them prior to boarding. They were all more than happy to oblige.

My most memorable flight experience has been traveling with Hrishikesh Mukherjee. He was surprised that I recognized him and we had a wonderful flight from Delhi to Frankfurt. Tremendous!!
