Should get interrupted play in the afternoon with light drizzle. Weather forecasts are not always 100% accurate especially in the UK, its looking dry at the moment Saturday Rather windy with sunny spells and blustery showers, some may be heavy and prolonged through the afternoon across northern parts. It will become drier from the south through the afternoon
G_B_ Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 must be torture for the fans though. Edgbaston like most english grounds does not have the majority of its seats under cover. Forget the rain, wind is going to make it an uncomfortable experience. My kudos to all ICFers in england attending the match

G_B_ Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 You attended any games yes. Oval and Rose bowl. @texy the bulk of the Indian support at Edgbaston comes from the punjabis (primarily sikh) who are concentrated in the suburb or wolverhampton a few miles away. Believe you me, they are up for a fight.

G_B_ Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 there are not many there. London on the other has huge Indian population. It will be 80% to 20% in India's favour at Lords or Oval. Edgbaston is probably 60-40 in India's favour. The more southern you get, more % of Indian fans will turn up at the ground as compared to Pak fans in an India-Pakistan match.
G_B_ Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 I dont know why the ECB did not chose lords as a venue. Especially for the India-Pakistan game. There are so many more extra seats to go by. Cardiff should never have been a venue. Much better to have the rose bowl as an alternative.

Edgbaston just over 25k Lords 28k, not much in it and Birmingham has much larger Paki following which is why they choose Edgaston every time. There will be no fights, Paks are totally outnumbered and they dont drink (its haram..but a 50yr old marrying 10yr old girl is fine) so wont be up for it

Secondly Lords is served by 2 tube stations. Public transport is first class compered to Edgbaston which is quite a distance away from Birmingham central station. Compared to say Lords which is quite nearby terminals of Euston and Paddington. I do believe that the MCC might even had a big screen in regents park to show the match. They did try that out in previous tournaments. Many would have turned up even for that.
