Not really, Donny. There were many replies on the thread also on the lines of how is it reasonable to expect players coming from poor background themselves and living in shabby houses, in their early 20s, in their first hour of glory of their careers, to start donating to charities. They probably will later on in their careers when they get more money and a better lifestyle as other Indian players have done. Many people tried making the above point coupled with the argument that hardly an sportsmen in their or similar situation would do it, then why have this expectation from Indian sportsmen?

It's a bit strange statements both by Symonds and Donny. The likes of Brett Lee and Ponting are always in India trying to make all the extra money. In fact Brett Lee sang a ridiculous bollywood song for extra bucks but I don't see these cricketers contributing any way to the poverty in Australia or elsewhere. Despite injury Brett was earning plenty from India. Does that qualify as being part of the hype too?

Ravi, what have they to do with me ? In any case, Brett Lee making money from a song has little to do with my initial comments on this matter. They were clearly made in the context of $US 1.5 million being handed out as bonuses when any kind of starvation goes on - in any country. shwetabh, my last post was only referring to the replies since my previous post. Quite a few in this thread have agreed with me. However, I do take your point and would like to add: I direct my sentiments to any person earning big bucks - over and above what gives them a comfortable, secure living/lifestyle.

I can't quite understand your logic Donny, never mind. Your post somehow came across as it was more pointed towards pointing out the poverty in India rather than a constructive comment. I didn't quite know your intention, I could have been mistaken.

My comment/s were made about the winners of a tournament which happened to be India so I referred to Indian poverty. I know it exists in all countries.

Changed job Donny. Now I haven't enough time during the day to check out the website and evenings are primo as the family wants fair bit of my time. To make matters worse it's summer time and cricket training's full on. Summer's pretty demanding I must say.
