Bhuvneshwar Kumar is nothing special

On what basis is Umesh the best test bowler we have? Played his last test match 18 months ago and in the interim has been totally shambolic in the FC games he's played. The best test bowler of a country doesn't struggle for wickets playing against weaker opposition. He's done decently in the past but thats about it. Don't know how he's being hailed as the one who is going to make all the difference to the Indian attack. Even in Australia, on flatter wickets of Sydney and Adelaide, his returns read 0/123, 1/136 and 1/23, in both innings Umesh conceded more than 5 RPO with Australia scoring 600+ in both the innings. So not sure how he will turn out to be any different from what rest of the bowling attack does on flat wickets.
You cant pick and chose test matches in a young career. You need whether he has shown spark or not which he has and his overall record in tests is better than most who has played since his debut. Regarding flat tracks, he has bowled well on flat tracks in India and you need to give more chances to such bowlers. I just replied to people in gest who said BK is the best. None is really standout. BK, Yadav, Shami, Aaron all are a part of talented pool who needs to improve with every game.

Absolutely correct. We need to scale down our expectation from this young and developing bowling attack, combined these together 4 you have named along with Pankaj/Ishwar Pandey have played a grand total of 25 tests. No wonder Ishant keeps getting picked for his 'experience' lol

Except he has shown again and again and again that he picks up new skills very easily. He was considered not a death bowler and he has went to become the best death bowler in India I have absolutely no doubt that he will pick up old balls skills easily if given enough chances. One thing he has shown is he is not an uni-dimensional bowler like our other trundlers. But then wont be the first time some player proves you wrong
Well he needs to pick up skill of pace. Can he do that? Old ball , flatter track and he rocks up at 78 mph. When will learn? Confused between odis and tests. Even in odis the oldest ball he will ever get is only 25 overs old. 78 mph with old ball. Jeez do me a favour. Dhoni will stand up to him!!!

He's not a 78 mph bowler now.You clearly haven't watched him recently. He has increased his pace and is just under fast medium category now(can bowl ~135 consistently, yet to see him in recent tests)

What Rubbish. He was the best bowler in the last test he played and looked best bowler of both teams. We have limited fast bowling options in tests and he is one who has impressed most even in indian flat pitches. Regarding Fc matches He was far from shambolic, coming from a injury layoff he bowled pretty well on flat decks and was economical. He was not being judged on fitness thats why he was selected if performance was the criteria why was he selected? Go and look at his bowling against england on the flattest deck .You improve as a bowler as u play more and he improved a lot. Not sure how england where most likely we will have helpful conditions we are talking about flat pitches just for sake of it.

Would pick Bhuvi over anyone for tests and ODIs. The guy at least bowls like he has a brain and plan unless guys like Yadav who just run and hurl with no strategy.
Would pick anybody who can pick wickets at good strike rate and average .38 average is really poor even by indian standards.

Don't think a bowler with no strategy could strike at every 46 balls in tests.

Yes, let's pretend we don't know that this average is solely because of 2 bad series in India on pitches where 350 was the norm, after few long series without rest. After all, he is not phast, so why should he get any support

Why does this fact hurt you so much? There are plenty of flat tracks in world cricket in tests. That's were pace becomes even more crucial. I repeat again. As soon as ball comes 15 to 20 overs old. BK and co become buffet stuff, dhoni may even decide to stand up to him. Do you really think this will have impact against worlds best? If oppo is 30-0 loss after 15 overs. BK will become a passenger

Has started to get those wickets again in IPL, hopefully keeps the same form in England as well.

You cant base IPL on what one can do in tests. Have we as indian fans really become so ridiculous. Look in IPL the fella bowls 4 overs, with most the ball gets is 20 overs old. Are we really using this as a bench mark for taking wickets in tests. Not to mention the fact batsman attack in T20s and so gives a lot more chances of wickets. While in tests totally different mindset with batsman in totally different mindset. Cant believe I have to sit here explain why IPL is different from tests

its all about conditions. He never lost swing but swing needs conditions. He just makes use of even a hint of swing, he and Sandeep. Sandeep even more as his pace is perfect for swing.
