Leaving aside his batting abilities and his on and off field activities. What is the origin of the joke of him being only 16 come from?
I thought his refusal to retirement played part as well and as shoaib mentioned he hasn't grown up yet,

For me its just a recurring joke about his real age. I believe he made his debut at 16 without any proper birth certificate. As he clearly looked much older than that and as we all know how Pakistanis fudge their age to play U15,U19 tournaments, he was most probably around 19 or 20 then. Since he always looks a few years older than his "official age", i guess that joke started.

that was only last week and why would he retire though if PCB keeps selecting him plus t20 leagues around the world does select him in their teams

Yes. But his point amplifies the his antics off field. Like changing opinions with in couple of days.

I wouldn't take akhtar's opinions seriously like tendulkar's legs were shaking comments.

Back in the 90s there was this tournament being played in Canada by India-Pak. Boycott was a commentator during that series and he said of Afrdi "If he's 17, then I am 22". Afridi's reported age has been viewed skeptically from the beginning of his career and I think this is the case even today.

Difficult to know how old he is. At 16 he looked 21. At 21 he looked 25. At 25 he looked 27. At 30 he looked 30. At 36 he looks 36. So baed on all that, I'd guess he's a youngish looking 38/39 yr old. Whatever his age the guy shouldn't have been playing on past the official age of 20, he was pathetic and never matured.

Congrats to Lala Afridi is the first man in the history of T20I to have more than 50 wickets and a 1000 runs. Shahid Afridi has set new World Records of getting more man of the matches, 9 times in T20 cricket format. Shahid Afridi has made total of 50 T20 matches which is maximum matches in international T20 career. Last T20 against Sri Lanka on 3rd June was 50th Twenty20 International match of Shahid Afridi, this way he is the leading T20 matches player in international world. 173847.jpg Long Live The King ....
