same can be said about sehwag and gilly in tests and see how they dominated the tests. This kid will only improve.

Spot on. He isn't good enough to play in the top order - too many basic flaws in his game which can be exploited by decent bowlers who use the new ball well. His game is PERFECTLY suited to this "finisher" role at #6 or lower. He can clear the boundary with ease (not an easy skill to perfect) and he always keeps the scoreboard ticking - that is exactly what India need in that position. Uthappa can be an Indian version of Abdul Razzaq - minus the crappy bowling. With Uthappa playing in the lower order, India can now promote Dhoni to a top order position - he should now cover the problematic #3 spot

Gambit, I'll rest both Sachin and Ganguly vs Pak. Let the younger brigade take up!

Sehwag in lieu of SCG for Pakistan. Pakistan's new ball bowlers will offer up a lot more that's hittable. We'll need a batsman to get on top of them, hit them hard and early, and Sehwag will do just that. If he clicks, then the middle order will have much to build on. Maybe slot Ganguly in the MO, or leave him aside unless we need him as a horses for courses pick.
