vipin Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Uthappa is too inconsistent. Hes like Yuvraj in a way. Can take away the match singlehandedly when he clicks, but that will appen only one in 10 times. Also, poor against both quality spin and quality pace (swing and seam). Rayudu is better.
vipin Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Samson has the potential to replace Dhoni in the longer term.
cricketman Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Thing is Raina brings a lot of other things to the field that are really beneficial for the team. He is probably the best fielder in the side, and can legitimately contribute with the ball. I think that the tour of NZ will be very valuable in assessing if Raina is worth pursuing with for the WC.
jf1gp_1 Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 raina has played 180 games, remained not out 19 times, 7 were single digit not outs meaning game was already won. Since Jan 2010 he only has 4 scores of 50+ where he remained not out. Have no idea how he qualifies as a finisher to begin with. Raina is a glorified hack who maybe has place in pakistans batting line up, to think of it he is in the right team indian team is nothing but bunch of sub-continent track bullies against medium pacers and spinners. Cant forget how Johnson made Indian batsman pee in their pants on dead ODI pitches and peterson getting 6 test wickets in the last test match.
Roshanrocks Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 STuart Binny. By the 2015 world cup, he will either be the best finisher India ever had or his career will be finished.
Vijy Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 How about...er.. Kedar Jadhav? An avg close to Dhobi in List A and a SR close to that of Yusuf Pathan, Afridi and Sehwag. Can't better those stats - not even Dhobi has List A stats like this. Of course one can't select purely based on stats, but Jadhav's record is impressive, and I recall some good performances against some touring squads and the Challenger trophy as well.
