gattaca Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 UP and Bihar are really a sorry tale for India. These two states had the best institutions for education in India or probably among the best in the world. People from Europe,China and other countries used to visit these places and wrote books on them. The had the head start compared to other states in terms of education but they have stumbled and fell. Compared to other states why do we always hear about religious polarization in these states. Even though the religious politics came to picture only around 1995 I don't understand why these two states failed. Yes I will call these two states failed considering the head start they had. I feel these two states have disappointed India. I feel these these two states will have tough future ahead as well. No offence to people from these places. I am not slinging at these two states this is just an observation.
jaheen100 Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 These two states are famous in the world for best study. But now a days, these are not famous due to bad decision of Govt.
Khalpat Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Compared to other states why do we always hear about religious polarization in these states. I am not sure what religious polarization you are talking about. I haven't heard anything of that sort in Bihar. Infact during 1992 also Bihar was one of the state which did not witnessed any communal violence. And as far as UP is concerned, I admit there is religious plarization to some extent which is due to huge population of both religions but isn't it similar to what we have in Gujarat, Andhra, Rajasthan etc. not sure why exactly you have pointed out these two states.
The Outsider Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Problem is quite simple on a high level. Through the years UP and Bihar have been viewed as a ticket to political power at the center due to 85 and 55 seats respectively. Win these two states and rule India. Even today they have 80 and 40 seats. Political leaders have always been more interested in coming up with short cuts to win seats rather than any long term solution to the problems of the people. Divide UP into 4 states and Bihar into a further 2, and there will be an improvement within a matter of years.

Will riots only considered as basis for polarization ? . If you see antics of laloo, paswaan, Nitish of attracting voters from minorities prompted me put Bihar in there. I don't at least don't see these in other states. Probably more posters here will agree with me on this.

UP should be probably divided considering its vast size and our leaders way of treating it. But there is a sustainability of these new 4 states as well.
