I have seen debates on the internet between US citizens and their European counterparts. And it never made any sense to me. Usually the debate goes like this, to keep the food prices down the employees are underpaid. But tipping is considered a part of their salary unofficially. So the customer ends up paying more anyways. You are still supposed to pay at least 10% even if you hate the service. etc, etc Are there any other reasons? Why is this different in the US from other countries?
It's a trend which is being continued not just in restaurants, but pretty much every where for the good service which is provided to the customer by a particular employee. You don't "have" to tip, it's not a law, but it's a trend which everyone follows wherever they go. Some people don't tip when they don't feel they have been served well. You got to your barber here, and people even tip the barbers. Infact, 99 percent tip their barbers too, so it's not only limited to the food. It's all about good service and making connectons and "Take care" of the person who served you.

Did you see the amount of water he used to wash it off? Unbelievable!! This guy should go to jail.
it's still more quantity of water that he used than they would use after even bigger acts.
