Bcci , Selectors, Vision, Thinking Poor , Archaic Sports Body

I HAVE FOLLOWED CRICKET EVER SINCE I CAN REMEMBER, having very strong ties with the game and love, it was then when we were very poor, always loosing or even a draw was a victory, always wondered when we might be like the Aussies, W I. THEN CAME THE TIME WHEN WE WON THE WORLD CUP I WAS TOO YOUNG TO REMEMBER, slowly India started getting better, more money came in, world class batters who could score anywhere, likes of Laxman, Dravid, Tendulkar made us proud but we were still loosing away and as they gained experience we started winning tests and then series away and that was a very big leap. At present we have a fantastic test batting line up with batters topping the charts among both sides in SA, NZ but we lost test we should have won and atleast drawn both series, but we lost thnx due to Dhoni and his captaincy and bad selections of playing 11 and planning, I had somehow felt this would happen as three years prior to this time when we were re building Srikant was retro active and made some changes albeit very late and wasted 2 to 3 years by picking up loosers like Unadkat, ISHANT, RP, ARAVIND, BINNY, Anirudh and ignored the players who were talented. THIS WAS THE TIME WE SHOULD HAVE PLANNED FOR THE AWAY TOURS AND ACCORDING TO OUR TEAMS NEEDS TRIED OUT GOOD FAST BOWLERS WHO HAVE EXCELLENT STATS PLUS POTENTIAL, Pankaj, Suyal, Pandey, JADHAV, AGARWAL, MANDEEP, SAHA, Umesh, Aniket but they were ignored. Looking at Australia who were in a bigger slump whoi managed to climb up the rankings and pretty soon will be the best team feel like our board, selectors, captain have hurt us more then our team or players, we need a good coach who is pro active and has balls, good captain , selectors who have a vision and can plan ahead. This is the worst I have seen our team in 2 decades, we suck.

we dropped the boat.. bcci selectors made good changes but kept dhoni and fletcher combo, all should have been booted out and kept in odis. need a proactive captain with decent pacers and we will do well

Three capatains for three formats. Dhoni is brain dead and i am not sure of kohli either.

It is not aout the players alone, we are at this point because of poos selectors and BCCI as a sports body is retro active , our team , performances, planning, working on weaknesses is never done, I am stunned how well Lehmann and CA have done, the influx of right players, the coach and captaincy has made all the difference. India on the other hand the bench strength is never tested in last 3 years, Dhoni plays his pets even if they are useless or not good enough in certain conditions, slections of bowlers have been very very weak especially here Srikant has been the culprit the worst selector in last 20 years, by recycling mediocre players they have undermined the team strength and now we don't have bowlers to play with , we do have fast bowler and potential but we haven't given them a go or let them have experience and now we only have one decent bowler Shami and we cannot do anything with such a weak and one dimensional attack.

To be fair we have never really tested our bench strength when Sachin Dravid and Laxman were quite old. It came to haunt us, after 8-0 when the old guard failed we were left with a new team lacking experience. The likes of Rahane Rohit Kohli and Pujara should have debuted and played 10-15 tests by the time the 8-0 happened.

there have been many changes on the field India won the champions trophy with this Rohit Dhawan Kohli DK MSD Raina Ashwin Jadeja Bhuvi Ishant Umesh This was in June 2013. The Asia cup side was Rohit Dhawan Kohli Rahane Rayadu DK Ashwin Jadeja Bhuvi Shami Aaron/Mishra Now if we use common sense clearly DK is just replacing dhoni. He is not going to be there as a full time bat as he was during the champions trophy. So India very much are making changes.

What hurts a lot during that 8 losses to eng and aus that if not for players breakdown....nobody was changed. In aus....unfortunately nobody broke and we played the same losing XI. Also against Afghanistan India could have played couple of reserve players and given them chance. It looks like bcci don't want more players playing Sent from my LG-D800 using Tapatalk

BCCI is a company which is interested in making money, they dont care about taking us to the top, there is no organization, monitoring, mentoring of players so they can be ready for the next level, it is amazing talents like Suyal, Pankaj, Umesh, Aniket, Kamran, Aaron, being wasted, so many others . There was no planning to prepare a team when we had 3 years to this day after seniors started fading, Fletcher is a sell out so is Dhoni, as long as India wins at home and our rankings r in top 5 BCCIdoesnt care , more so for test.

I would not have liked India experimenting against Afghanistan. Losing that match would have been embarassing, a match against a minnow is never a dead rubber, you win and get no praise, you loose and you become the laughing stock. India did not qualify for the finals, yet India was one of the better teams of the tournament. Pakistan struggled to beat both Afghan and Bangladesh,and lost to Sri lanka and had a narrow win over India. Srilanka just barely managed to beat Pakistan, Bangladesh and India. India thrashed both Bangladesh and Afghanistan, and lost very narrowly to Sri lanka and Pakistan. India were a bit short of luck this time, they should have been in the finals other wise. It is not a good idea to experiment and loose to Afghanistan after having performed decently during the first three games.

Ganguly I think called quits in 2009. Problem was Raina and Yuvraj wasted those chances. These two players just did not have the first class records to justify being selected. I mean Yuvi was part of the team India test side till the 2012 England series. This may sound odd but what the BCCI should have done is played more test cricket. Invite the likes of NZ WI etc at home and give the younger guns a chance. I think its stupid to blame the BCCI. They have cricketers in place. The likes of Kirs Srikanth did jack all from 2008-2011. India have the depth or had the depth at that time to rest the first team and still play the youth in these sorts of matches. Its not as good as say facing south Africa away but its a minor step up. This a big flaw in Indian culture. Don't upset the status quo. No future planning. Nobody wants to upset anybody and the result is inaction.
