Why Are Indians Perceived to be Such Poor Coaches?

Open ended question. Basically Indians have for years had foreign coaches. Even when Fletcher was selected I knew he would not work out. I can understand the logic of selecting a coach from a country like Australia that has a proud cricketing history or a great player like Kirsten to even a lesser extent. But Fletcher? This is a guy that played on a subpar cricketing country and has proven himself to be a disaster. People always claim Indians are poor coaches. Based on what? Over the last 20 years who exactly have been the Indian coaches with given Fletcher like long leashes? Its funny how Indians in India essentially cant get over their obsession with white skin and think the only good boss is a white guy. Im amazed that Mastercard, Pepsi, Citibank, Microsoft etc can all entrust such valuable organizations and have Indians at the top yet in a cricket mad country not one of the brilliant minds can get a coaching job? :hysterical: Very very pathetic.

TBF we've had Indian coaches before but we weren't exactly world beaters. We've always had a laid back approach and I think foreign coaches were preferred to inculcate a sense of professionalism and to try out new ideas. But yeah we've gone too far with it now and the world is more fluid - everyone knows about everyone else, so the little benefits a coach can bring just for being a part of a different cricketing setup now goes out of the window.

I think fundamentally a foreign coach is seen as a neutral coach. In the past with Indian coaches there have been accusations of bias for particular regions. I personally think that India as a nation has moved beyond a the point of making it blatant to pick somebody because of where they come from. Today with social and mass media IMO its much harder it be biast.

Its because srini and dhoni would not allow them to do their job. once they go, im sure they would be more than happy

They knew Fletcher would be a puppet and a soft target eventually. It's a calculated move.

Not given long leashes like Fletcher. Hes one of the worst all time based on the away test record alone. Yet his contract is extended? Having a guy from Zimbabwe the coach of the Indian cricket team is like having a Latvian coach of the American Basketball team. There is more than ample coaching talent in India.

Only Lalchand Rajput is certified A level Indian coach.In some other countries there are more number of certified coaches i think.One reason could be that preference is given to certifications.
