The Outsider
The guy did superb in the Challenger Trophy picking up the second highest number of wickets at a superb economy rate for a spinner, around 4.5. He has been a consistent domestic performer, the type of player who will bend every sinew for the team, the type of player who wears his team's colors with pride and passion. Moreover, he was reasonably impressive in the 2 ODIs he got to play against the South Africans 4-5 years ago. Bowled with decent control from what I remember. At the ripe age of 24, he already seems to be too old to even be talked about for selection. None of the selectors, no one from the media, hardly any fans are talking about this guy. Again, our obsession with finding a Tendulkar in Chawla or Ojha is continuing and our structures fallacies of returning to long term failures like Harbhajan because of their star power is not going anywhere. There is no progress of thought in selections. Here is your man, selectors. Give him a decent run, give him confidence, and now with 4-5 years of domestic experience after 2 ODIs that he played, he is ready to take up the Indian spin attack, at least in ODIs. Link to comment
