Do you know the meaning of average? Just chech precipitation map of the south Asia. India 1083, Sri Lanka 1712. 70% more average rainfall. Massive fail. http://www.indexmundi.com/facts/indicators/AG.LND.PRCP.MM http://www.indexmundi.com/facts/indicators/AG.LND.PRCP.MM/rankings
No country the size of India has average rainfall like Sri Lanka. India being a big nation, highs and lows average out. There are very rainy places in India - most places along the 1000 mile long west coast from Kerala to Maharashtra receive 300cm or more every year. The North eastern belt and sub himalayan belt is another high rainfall zone. There are number of stations with rainfall exceeding 600 cm in India.

they e not won anything significant for 17 years now...last was 1996 WC
Nevertheless, they are consistent performers... our's are not. The way Team India perform at times after major tourney victories, might convince some to believe our silverwares were by fluke.

Infact they have... a better win percentage than Team India.
its about winning WCs. reaching finals and losing it.As I said to each his own. If they are happy with that since 96, let it roll on for another 100 years for them :giggle::giggle:

You are as large as one of the states of India' date=' and some of our states have higher average rainfall than Srilanka.[/quote'] Srilanka's quite similar to Kerala in many aspects.

Even during the 90s when 300 used to be a mammoth score ' date=' Lankans had already come pretty close to break the 400 runs mark. SL scored 396 runs against Kenya in the 1996 World Cup.[/quote'] I think Srilanka was the first in ODI history to chase a 300+ total and win.

Sri Lanka have another unique record,

Three current Test nations, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, have won the ICC Trophy, and can thus not defend their title any more unless they decide to resign their Test status, which would make them eligible to compete in the ICC Trophy again. Sri Lanka who won the first edition of ICC Trophy in 1979, later went on to win the Cricket World Cup in 1996.
The only cricket team to do this although it's bit :embarassed: to think that once they battled it out with the likes of Canada. True inspiration for Zim and BD and for all the associate teams :good:
