bulbul Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Is BCCI in a position to negotiate with SC? Actually SC has erred in giving so much of leeway to BCCI thugs... Thinking same,BCCI getting too much chances...
yoda Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 BCCI is rightfully objecting. Seems like the Mudgal committee was on a witch hunt, listing players with no evidence to back up their claims. Just because one RR and CSK game score came close to Meyappan's prediction, they think it is fair game to accuse players of match fixing with no supporting facts or corroborating evidence. Now they will go on a fishing hunt to "find" that evidence otherwise the committee's original report will look baseless. SC should focus on more important things that concern the country than on whether the BCCI knows how to run the IPL. If any laws were broken, the police have enough power to investigate just like how they caught Meyappan, Sree and others.

What's in it for him/supreme court?
Vilander Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Why would someone as respected as Mudgal' date=' go on a witch hunt? What's in it for him/supreme court?[/quote'] one does not have to answer that but the Mudgal committee they would have to provide evidence about the named cricketers..
Sachin=GOD Posted April 29, 2014 Author Posted April 29, 2014 Why would someone as respected as Mudgal' date=' go on a witch hunt? What's in it for him/supreme court?[/quote'] No point in arguing with him - he will never accept that Srini has done anything wrong. For him it is always a witch hunt against innocent Srini.
yoda Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Why would someone as respected as Mudgal' date=' go on a witch hunt? What's in it for him/supreme court?[/quote'] He is not the only one on the committee. You don't know and neither do I as to all the hidden motives behind people's actions. All we can go by is what is made available to us. Based on that, my conclusion is that, putting people's names in an accusatory form in a sealed envelope and lay it before the SC with no conclusive evidence to back it up is reckless at best. Gather your evidence, make sure it meets a high bar and then start accusing people, not the other way around.

BTW can you list what Srini has done which requires a SC action against him and being included in the infamous list of 13? He did not bet, he did not fix. All he is accused of is trying to shield his SIL and lying about his role in his franchise. Big fecking deal as if that is the worst crime in the country which requires the SC of India to waste it's precious time on.

Gather your evidence, make sure it meets a high bar and then start accusing people, not the other way around. I have told you this earlier and I am repeating this for the umpteenth time. Mugdal's role was the IPL probe during which some depositions made some claims connecting to the probe. It was the duty of Justice Mugdal to look into their allegations. He did and he called it "baseless". All probe leads are required to be documented and because those allegations were "baseless" Mugdal handed the names in a sealed envelope to the SC so that it doesn't hurt the cricketer's reputation. I don't know how and where you see Mugdal going on a witch hunt here. On the contrary, he has been extremely careful and meticulous with his approach. At no point of time, did Mugdal in his report or otherwise - remotely accused any cricketer. Please read the probe report before repeating the same thing over and over again.

Crookbond Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I love how the SC has played with this until now. Check this out The request by Srinivasan's counsel that he be reinstated as BCCI president was not agreed to by the court. The counsel had argued that the sealed envelope only contained an allegation against Srinivasan that he had failed to act on a complaint made against an individual. To which Justice A K Patnaik said, "The contents of the sealed cover is not what you think it is." http://www.espncricinfo.com/india/content/story/740443.html BCCI literally kept guessing!

Check this out http://www.espncricinfo.com/india/content/story/740443.html BCCI literally kept guessing! I also think that SC is letting BCCI go on and on and on in its brazen display of shamelessness so that in the end they (the SC) can give the BCCI one tight slap for all the smart ass behavior shown by BCCI/Srini in this investigation so far.
Crookbond Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 This is why he has not been permanently removed but only suspended till an independent investigation can be completed IDK why people can't understand simple logic 1. IPL probe report said Meiyappan was involved in betting which is illegal. 2. Meiyappan was the team principal/owner etc. etc. of CSK who are one of the participating teams in the IPL 3. Meiyappan is the son-in-law of Srinivasan 4. Srinivasan is the BCCI president and the ICC representation 5. Srinivasan is the Vice Chairman and MD of India Cements 6. India Cements owns CSK This is as clear a case of "conflict of interest" as you can get. The SC has just suggested to form an "independent investigation" panel to probe the matter. Therefore, Srinivasan can't remain at the helm. Why are people so upset at these logical turn of events by the SC? :dontknow:
BlackMamba Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Who is upset? I don't think anybody is upset. May be some are trying to say he is not guilty till proven. But I guess everybody acknowledges the kingdom he built around BCCI was wrong and bad

But I guess everybody acknowledges the kingdom he built around BCCI was wrong and bad Some people are trying to say that Mugdal has an axe to grind and is conducting a witch hunt (never mind he has actually called charges as "baseless"), Srinivasan should continue as BCCI president. What do you have to say to that?

What do you have to say to that?[/quote'] No, I think Mugdal is all good. And yes Srini should stay away till at least this is all settled. But the big question -- How is anybody going to prove that he is guilty. Don't forget he is not involved in this at all (from what we have seen) and punishing him for what his Son In Law did would be wrong as well. What I did not like was -- how these Presidents build a kingdom around themselves by bringing in all their well wishers into positions within BCCI and this is where I need more transparency and hope fully given happened to Srini future BCCI Presidents would be careful. I for one also do not like BCCI autonomy. We need some independent observers in BCCI Board.
Switchblade Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Read cricbuzz website where there are allegations that 3 CSK 2 each from MI and DD players along with a top commentator plus a player who went unsold in this years auction were involved last year in fixing.
Sachin=GOD Posted April 30, 2014 Author Posted April 30, 2014 The man who took on Srini Aditya Verma used to stand outside the BCCI's offices, trying to get his case heard. These days he and his powerful friends are rather more of a nuisance for the board http://www.espncricinfo.com/magazine/content/story/740325.html
