BJP sends feelers to Narayan Rane to fill Maharashtra vacuum http://www.livemint.com/Politics/tnJia2KisSVaIVMRNJdhNN/BJP-sends-feelers-to-Narayan-Rane-to-fill-Maharashtra-vacuum.html this is going to end in tears.....Rane wants to be CM. Thats never going to happen for the BJP. At max it will be industries or revenue minister. Better to promote Punkaja the daughter of Munde as the face of BJP maharashtra. She will take time but its time to build with her
Sincerely hope that BJP does not take Rane. It will only weaken the BJP and no good will come out of it.

Unhappy NCP leaders now eyeing Shiv Sena, BJP

After landslide victory of BJP and NDA alliance in the Lok Sabha elections, some of the ruling party corporators as well as aspirants, who were rejected party tickets during the last civic polls, are now eyeing BJP or Shiv Sena to revive their political career. According to sources, "The Lok Sabha election results have shaken many and some of the corporators are likely to switch their loyalties to Sena or BJP. Some senior leaders, too, are in talks with saffron alliance. Though it is premature to say what will be the outcome of the talks, it is true that such talks are on." They said, "There are many aspirants, who were denied tickets last time, but are still with the party. These people will be the first ones to jump over to other side citing injustice done to them, despite working for the party all these years. Also, there are some who are making all types of noises within the party now. Though some may have not openly expressed displeasure, it is true that they are not happy with the ruling party's functioning." Sources said, "During the recently held Lok Sabha elections, some senior NCP corporators worked within their wards only and did not go full throttle during electioneering. This can be attributed to several reasons, including, the leaders' displeasure with the NCP leadership here. Now that the Lok Sabha poll results are out, chances are that some could switch over to Sena. As far as Navi Mumbai is concerned, Sena is the most preferred choice for many."

Khadse the senior most BJP leader in Maha now that Munde has passed away and Gadkari is in Delhi has said that Rane has not space in the BJP.

Looks like Ekmath Khadse is in line to come CM of Maharashtra if the BJP get the most seats based on seniority of leaders left in the state. In any case he will become the home ori ndustries or revenue minister should the sena-bjp combine (with smaller parties) come to power as a bare minimum. How fortunes turn. Khadse originally wanted to rope in Rane to position himself as the counterweight to Munde as the OBC face of Maharashtra. Now that Munde is dead he has no use for Rane and has blocked his entry in the party. As far as negociations in the state go, Devendra Fadnavis and Khadse will discuss seat sharing with Uddhav Thakarey and Sanjay Raut

State BJP harps on collective leadership

PUNE: Amidst speculations about who will lead the BJP in the run-up to assembly elections later in the year, party state president Devendra Fadnavis said that the saffron party will harp on collective leadership. Fadnavis, who was in Beed on Sunday to meet family members of late Gopinath Munde, said the BJP will face assembly elections as a unit under combined leadership of all leaders. Fadnavis' statement comes in the backdrop of Union minister Nitin Gadkari refusing to come back in the state politics. Another party leader Vinod Tawade, who was in Pune to campaign for graduate constituency elections, also said that the BJP will not project any one as a leader. "We have many strong leaders," he said. Munde was the architect of the 'Mahayuti' — a grand alliance with Shiv Sena, RPI (A), Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana and Mahadev Jankar's Rashtriya Samaj Paksha - which vested control of western Maharashtra from Cong-NCP. "Someone from the BJP or Sena should lead the front. Munde's death has left a huge vacuum. It is necessary to tell supporters that we are determined to win again," said SSS chief & MP Raju Shetty.

BJP-Sena seat-sharing talks in Maharashtra to be troublesome

The seat-sharing agreement between the Shiv Sena and the BJP is likely to become a major bone of contention between the two parties ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections. As per the agreement between the two parties, the Shiv Sena has always contested more seats in the state Assembly polls while the BJP has always contested more seats in the Lok Sabha polls. In the 2009 state Assembly elections, the Sena contested 169 seats while the BJP contested 119 seats. However, the BJP now wants its seat share to increase by 36. When the alliance was first formed, the BJP contested 32 Lok Sabha seats while the Sena contested 16 seats. As the Sena’s strength grew, the BJP agreed to give six LS seats to the party. Now that the tables have turned, the BJP wants the Sena to give them more seats in the state Assembly. Opposition leader Eknath Khadse said, “In 1989, when the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance was forged after late Pramod Mahajan’s initiative, it was decided that the BJP would contest 32 Lok Sabha seats while the Shiv Sena would contest only 16 seats. Later, the formula changed to 22:26 for the BJP and the Sena, respectively.”

I may become Maharashtra chief minister, says Uddhav Thackeray

Mumbai: Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray on Monday stopped short of declaring his candidature as Maharashtra’s next chief minister, avoiding a step that could spoil his party’s relations with ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Thackeray was invited the Indian Merchants Chamber (IMC) to share his economic vision for Mumbai and the state. “You (the IMC office bearers) wished me all the best for becoming chief minister; I may become chief minister of the state, but this is not the place and time to speak about it as the media might give some different spin to it,” Uddhav Thackeray said. “You gave me your best wishes because you believe I can deliver and I am grateful for reposing such faith in me,” he added. While Shiv Sena is pushing to declare Uddhav Thackeray as the chief ministerial candidate, there are several claimants to the post in partner BJP. The official position taken by both parties is that the name will be announced at an appropriate time. Elections to the Maharashtra assembly are scheduled in October-November. “If Shiv Sena comes to power, we will build a world-class park for Mumbaikars at the place of Mahalaxmi Race Course in middle of city on the lines of the Central Park of New York and Hyde Park of London,” said Uddhav Thackeray. Controversy had erupted in May 2013 after Mumbai mayor Sunil Prabhu and some Sena leaders demanded that the race course be converted into a memorial for Sena supremo Bal Thackeray. At that time, Uddhav Thackeray had tried to douse the controversy with a similar proposal for a park. The race course is run by Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) and is spread over 225 acres of land in central Mumbai. However, the 99-year old lease of the land came to an end in 2013. Out of the 225 acres of land which covers the race course, two-third is owned by the state government and the rest by Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), currently controlled by Shiv Sena and BJP.
