Gambit
Donny, Gilly averages a meager 30 in his last 22 tests(starting Ashes '05). Suffice to say, he has been having a really long and lean patch. Link to comment
zubinpepsi
Carried on too long ?? You write as if he has already retired. Lost his form since 2005 ? Is this the same man who blew Sri Lanka out of the water in the 2007 ODI World Cup final with a 72 ball century, containing 8 sixes ? Is this the same man who blasted the second fastest Test century ever (by one ball), in the 2006 Ashes series ? Is this the same man who, just 3 matches back, hit 79 n.o. from 77 balls to put India to the sword ? Let's all hope he continues losing form for at least another year. ok .. he carries on.. .. happy? Donny
Today, Luke Ronchi hit 100 from 51 balls for Western Australia against Queensland. 11 sixes and 6 fours = 90 in boundaries. Although a right hander, he has similarities with Adam Gilchrist. He keeps for WA when Gilly's away (often), opens the batting in one dayers and bats at #7 in first class. He's 26. Want someone younger ? Matthew Wade is 19. He keeps for Victoria. After 2 matches he had 11 catches and 2 stumpings. He scored 83 in his first match and hit 95 today - his 3rd. first class match. Mr. Wicket
Donny, don't forget Tim Paine. Very impressive batsman as well, and I recollect he opened a bit for Tassie last season. Link to comment
