You DO realize that we are talking about a non-national level sport....this thread is about patriotism and sports.....whats patriotism got to do with a CLUB team and its hooligan fans ??? So if manchesterU fan beats up LiverpoolU fans, its about patriotism, eh ?? same thing applies here.... You are clearly going off on a limb just to defend the ridiculous mix of patriotism and sports in our country!

People pledge allegiance to a club/country in sports and support them till they die. People in England shell out money to help their local clubs, take time off, sub as a video analyst and then go crazy when they lose. It's a sense of participation. Kind of like a brotherhood. Feeling dejected and sad after your team loses does not equate to moronic jingoism. Feeling proud when your country or your countryman does well in a sport does not equate to misplaced nationalism.

I still think it does....its just sport....somehow i can't lose sleep over India winning or losing what is essentially whacking a ball with a stick...if i were to feel nationalistic over something, it'd have to be on issues far more profound than someone kicking a ball or bashing a ball....that most definitely is misplaced nationalism to me.
