India hint at five-bowler strategy

Recommended Posts

Just one win away from home with GOAt batting line up....it proves that this balance is wrong Every team in world currently plays 5 bowlers even if they have to field crap all rounders like mclaren
no. away series wins in all nations apart from sa and aus. Even in aus those draws(2 series drawn) were maginificent against one of grestest test sides ever, plus would have won if not for bucknor, plus spanked them regular at home with 6 batsman. Also would have won series in SA if not for dhobi acting all PC and reigning in sree

Ausralia dominated world cricket with 6 batsman and 4 bowlers Same with windies. If 4 bowlers are not good enough, chucking in a part time bowler like binny to make 5 wint make any difference. Strategy to win, which is how we got to number 1 is bat and pile on big totals with 6 front line batters. This will create runs to play with and score board pressure for the 4 bowlers to chip away and get the wickets. Make them bat on day 4 or 5 picth with our runs on boars and hopefully spinner can do the job. You need 6 batters. You forget laxman at 6 and how many times he saves us and piled on the runs. Just imagine if in that period we had binny at 6 instead of laxman:hysterical:
Yes Australians with McGrath and warne are totally same compared to bowling line up which struggles to bowl in 2 nd innings of test match . We lost in South Africa and New Zealand purely because we were bowler short and cricket has changed now ..you can get away with 4 bowlers on good bowling tracks but on flat tracks 4 bowlers which has ishant in it does not cut it

Even before thinking of 5 bowlers ' date='we need a decent allrounder, which we have been lacking for years. We have 2 class batsman in this team.[/quote'] We don't have a decent allrounder in this squad so I think its better to go with 4 bowlers - 3 pace and 1 spinner.

Yaar we have to keep in mind that out batting order doesn't have the big 4 anymore - we need that extra batsman, especially since M$D usually doesn't do that well outside India.

Oh please ..let's stops with what could have happened We could have lost first test in lords and lost series to England if l bad light did not saved us and dhoni did not bat like champ It goes both ways ...very fact is in our recent history wp even with greatest batting line up ever we failed to win single series away from home other than 2007 series in England Also please do not count nations like New Zealand and West Indies ..

Have genuine batting all rounder b. If have absolute gun top 5 batting line up and gun keeper/bat. Australia in the pomp when raping all and sundry had b. yet still picked 6 frontline batters

If we had one more bowler in New Zealand we would have won 2-0

This is England - here pokemon would still be better than Vijay. Also' date=' we need some experience in the batting order bcoz all we have in the name of experience is M and he isn't exactly a "batsman" in Tests outside the subcontinent.[/quote'] Experience meant S!ht the last time we were in England??!!! Other than Dravid rest of the 'experienced' stalwarts were a disgrace. Gambhir is the last batsman you need to see of a new ball in swinging/seaming conditions. Wont take Broad/Anderson long to get him nick one to slips!! Gambhir cant leave an away going delivery for long.......ask Gambhir himself!! Seeing of the new ball is paramount here....this is something Vijay has been doing well. Had this been India and we were playing on a patta, play Gambhir no issues, but not in England.

4 bowlers or 5 bowlers, end of the day, the end result is not going to be too different. Wonder what all the fuss is all about. Would be a good enough tour if we take all tests to day 5 and are able to avoid a whitewash. Sneaking a win somehow will be a good enough positive step ahead.

well you going down road of what could have happened. Fact is we drew that test and won the test series Sorry but we can count NZ and Windies and also pakis. Facts are we got to number 1 in tests with 6 batsman i.e laxman at 6. Now you want jokers like binny at 6. We had amazing batting line up and still had 6 front line batters. Now we have suspect batting line up people want only 5 front line batters!!! Madness

Rahane is there for number 6... England's bowlers are still doing well - Anderson has been picking wickets regularly (even in the Eng-Lanka series he picked 12 wickets) and Jordan, Plunkett are also bowling well.

Fact is we have one of the worst record out side sub continent and number 1 was based on wins at home and one good South Africa series Another fact is current Australia plays 5 bowlers and had to keep Watson in side even though he is crap...even though their strongest team did not so I do not know how is this even basis of ur argument when their current team plays 5 South Africa is forced to play mclaren If we do not have all rounder we need to decide between extra bowler or batsman ...we are getting white washed with 6 batsmen why not for change try to win one with extra bowler ?
