Should Irfan have been in the test squad?

I definitely think so. In fact I'm shocked he's not! We have 3 specialist spinners... Kumble, Bhajji, and Kartik. And 3 specialist pacers... Zaheer, RP, Sree..... So clearly, we're gonna go in with 2 spinners and 2 pacers... I really don't see the logic behind having no back up pacers.

Why are you contradicting yourself Holy ? You yourself have pointed out that we will play 2 pacers, have 3 pacers in the squad and yet come up with a " No back-up seamer" query ? And dont forget , this is just a 2 test-series.

I thought it was a 3 test series :eyedance: What I meant was, we should've gone in with 3 specialist seamers.. and one spinner.. but then there is no backup seamer left..

I am kind of divided on this i feel he will make our batting a little stronger and give us opportunity to play 3 pacers and 2 spinners... will almost always give us the mindless sloggers wicket. but not sure. I also feel that he should be given some more time in ODIs.

i think pathan is good all-rounder for ODI's, he plays good in tests too but others are better than him..so others should get chances patahn is fast hitter not slow batsman

He is not a pacer so you must be including him as the 2nd spinner

Yea for me ... we dont want to make the same mistakes again with Irfan ... he needs to get accustomed to ODI cricket again and take wickets there ... only then should be given a spot in the test side.

Not in tests at the moment. He doesnt have the pace and variety to succeed in real format of the game.
