we need something special to retain the worldcup. what we have now is just not good enough in aus. so worth a gamble.

Should be first tried out at home against WI and if he clicks then taken to Australia for tri-series

For Odis we can take risk at home because we do not really play much domestic limited over cricket anyway

WI ODIs will be the last home ODIs before the WC. Doubt selectors and the team management will try out rookie players so close to the WC. Likes of Uthappa and Gambhir should be given those chances in that WI ODI series IMO

I think selectors are looking for some x-factor players in the worldcup. conducting vijay hazare and deodhar tropy before world cup could be a reason for finding some new comers for worldcup. so far manan vohra and karn sharma are the ones who are performing well in aus.

i think its too much to expect from youngster to come in and within year be good enough for world cup in australia he is very young and obviously has skill to play at top level but its just bit too late now for him to just come in team set in and play well enough that he is ready for world cup also another thing is do you think they will chance opening combination of dhawan and rohit now ?

actually 2 ways to look at it. one is to continue with the same set of players for last 1 year leading into teh worldcup and have a settled team for world cup. another is to go with few young and vibrant players and have a gamble like we did in first t20 world cup. both have its own advantages and dis advantages. one reason i want to try out few youngsters is fatigue to main players. after 5 tests main players will be exhausted in eng odis. so it will be nice to have few energetic legs. same for the world cup and 4 tests in aus.

see i can give another perspective ..our team is already very young and many of players will play for first time in australia or 2nd time at most also i have heard dhoni say before that before world cup you need to have experience of few games under you another thing is if world cup was at home it would have been easier to get in youngsters but since its in australia it will be difficult for him and just imagine the pressure

yes i agree with you. common sense prevails we should go with a settled team. but do we have a chance of even getting into semis with this team? that's why I think a gamble is worth taking :)

we need better bowling tbh batting always done well enough in limited overs cricket because of kohli and dhoni ..

on bowling front as well we can go with settled guys like shami, bhuvi, mohit sharma/aaron, aswin and jadeja (avg bowling lineup) or gamble a bit with some exiting players like bumrah, karn sharma/chahal, ... based on the theory that new guys always give more hope than existing ones :)

with aswin and jadeja bowling in the middle overs, pattern will be same. both will struggle to get wickets in the middle overs and our seamers will be exposed to some serious hitting in the last 10 overs. thats is why i seriously wish we give enough chance to a wicket taking leg spinner in all the matches leading into world cup. dhawan/rohit also not in great form. robin was the alternative everyone had in mind. but he failed miserably in a-tour. so i guess vohra can be the backup opener to look upto.

lets see ..its too early to call and we fortunately have tri series in australia before world cup so it will give us 7 odd matches to see how belongs and what combination to use

He is ahead of Uthappa and Chand. Slightly ahead of Jeevanjot also.

A raw talent but He's still very poor outside off stump....needs more first class exposure domestically and abroad so that his batting may be refined....exposing him early with such an obvious weakness could dent his confidence and future development
