When team loses blame goes to skipper and rightly so. Everyone was asking for Cook's head after the Ashes debacle. Now the same British media all praises for him. It is very natural. But people need to retrospect what else Dhoni could have done. I for one don't think he has captained poorly this series. All the players in the squad given equal chances but we failed completely as an unit. Ishant Sharma getting injured when all the momentum was with him was a critical phase in this series. On top of that we don't have a single good spinner. All ex Indian captains relied on spinners to do the job for him (example - Bhajji in Oval 2002). MSD dont have that luxury of a Anil Kumble or a Harbhajan in the side. He tried his best to save the team with his batting but run out of partners. It was a collective team failure and Dhoni could have absolutely done nothing. When your top order can't score 50 collectively in 1st session you don't win a test match irrespective of who the skipper is. Dhoni's captaincy looked much more proactive this series compared to NZ or SA tour. And people who criticizing Pujara in this thread are :facepalm: He is an awesome batsman and sooner than later will come good.
