King Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Just heard on one of the news channel Greg Chappell was physically hurt by some activists at an airport. This is taking the disappoint about a coach a bit too far and unprecedented. :wall: Sends out great message for upcoming coaches or coaches from overseas.
King Posted January 22, 2007 Author Posted January 22, 2007 Re: Greg Chappell hurt by some activists Chappell hit by Kalinga Sena activist NDTV Correspondent Monday, January 22, 2007 (Cuttack): An activist of the Kalinga Sena, a regional political outfit protesting against the BCCI, hit Greg Chappell on the back outside the Bhubaneshwar airport. The outfit was protesting against there being no Orissa player in the Indian team. The Orissa police meanwhile have denied that there is any specific threat to the India-West Indies match. The statement comes two days before the next cricket one-dayer in Cuttack. The officer in-charge however, told NDTV that security is anyway high because of a general alert.
King Posted January 22, 2007 Author Posted January 22, 2007 Re: Greg Chappell hurt by some activists Are there any worthy players playing for Orissa deserving a place in the Indian team at all???

Guest dada_rocks Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Re: Greg Chappell hurt by some activists This is bloody uncalled for...
PaiN_KiLLeR Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Re: Greg Chappell hurt by some activists reflects very poorly on our fans ... had an indian coach been slapped in some white country ... our entire nation would have cried RACISM
gator Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Re: Greg Chappell hurt by some activists exactly.... this is ridiculous.... tht idiot should go and sponsor some kid's coaching, if he really wants oriyan player in the team.....
head coach Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Re: Greg Chappell hurt by some activists It shows how much security you can provide in India. It was rather interesting to note that Gambir had to rescue Chappel from the assault before Police took control of the situation. "One bad apple spoils the barrel" This sure is a bad mark on the Indian cricket fan base who follow the game passionately. Greg Chappell maynot be the nicest guy in the whole world but it doesnt mean you show your frustration towards a man who is trying to help the country win some cricket games. As a cricket fan, we have to accept shame for this!
yoda Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Re: Greg Chappell hurt by some activists He is probably a paid guy. I am sure some in the BCCI want Chappell out. Doubt even if a retarded Orissa cricket fan would think Chappell has anything to do with an Orissa player not in the Indian team.

head coach Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Re: Greg Chappell hurt by some activists As a cricket fan' date=' we have to accept shame for this![/quote'] I wouldnt go that far .... Did Australia as a nation accept shame for what Ponting and Martyn did on the CT winners stage .... and this is one stupid fan as opposed to Ponting and Martyn to veteran professional well paid cricketers (dunno if they are educated though) Bheem, both Ponting and Martyn apologised publicly and Ponting phoned Pawar and apoligised to him directly. Australian Govt also condemned the actions. Plus why should we look at others to be gentle and courteous ?
Mandrake Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Re: Greg Chappell hurt by some activists what a shame....and what is this nonsense about orissa player ....hell with this regional mentality...same thing happened with those ganguly protests in Calcutta.....

yoda Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Re: Greg Chappell hurt by some activists those who feel like being ashamed should be ashamed of this.
