Kadesh Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 So with the perma-chuckers like Ajmal and Murali and Senanayake and narine and Harbjahan obviously we cannot go back into the records and change the results of the games their cheating influenced but maybe we should have an asterisk next to their names in Wisden and Cricinfo so the rest of cricketing history knows that they cheated to get their records, and that they are a disgrace to the game.
Alph Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 And the batsmen who nick one to the fielders and stay to make more runs are somehow not cheating and a disgrace to the game.
jf1gp_1 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 they werent called by umpires so why should anything change by the way the biggest cheats i saw were during soccer WC , everyone goes through an acting course before inducted into a team; that is one sport which needs cleaning up
Desi Cartman Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 It's amazing that ICC waited for murali to retire
sticky wicket Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 For one thing it will create a niche within the filtered stats guru like when people filter out bangladesh and Zimbabwe, or batsmen vs top bowlers, or best batsmen in Aus etc Good one might be the best batsmen against likely and approved chuckers.
kubrickian Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Harbhajan doesnt belong to that club. Only his doosra might involve bending the arm and that too probably within the allowed limit but his action is mostly legit unlike chuckers like Ajmal, Muralitharan, Narine etc.
Crookbond Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 they werent called by umpires so why should anything change by the way the biggest cheats i saw were during soccer WC , everyone goes through an acting course before inducted into a team; that is one sport which needs cleaning up Exactly - should the umpires and admins be excised because they didn't call the cheat? Soccer diving is a disgrace and FIFA is a hypocritical organization. Suarez biting is cheating but Robben diving to get a penalty is not.

In cricket term one is ball tampering while other is batsman hitting bowler with his bat :P Maybe not even tampering but that is as close I can get :cantstop:
Kadesh Posted October 12, 2014 Author Posted October 12, 2014 Umpires should call the cheats on the field. Who cares about their feelings? They are revolting cheats and should not be allowed in the game.

Old guy Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 There wasn't any analogy there. I was comparing rules you cannot compare biting with tackling or diving Here is another analogy diving is equal to appealing when you know person is not out or many other things while biting is just purely not part of game...not comparable at all
Kadesh Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 I just think that straight arm bowling is a fundamental law, and that a chucker who chucks every ball has never bowled a legal ball in their career and I cannot understand how their records should stand.
Old guy Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Because you cannot prove he chucked every ball ?
Kadesh Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 I'm old fashioned. I think if you see the arm bending with the naked eye it's a chuck. We don't need degrees or technology here. Umpires were able to spot chuckers in the 1960s no problem so I don't see why we need the new rules now, especially now chucklitharan has retired.
Old guy Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 What is bent for you is not bent for me how do you prove anything ? Also if you are ok with umpire having enough poet to end career ...what are your views on drs system ? If it looks out it is out right ? In 60's they did same unless there were super computers or even cameras back then :giggle:

In 60's they did same unless there were super computers or even cameras back then :giggle: The Laws, which were written without the aid of technology, specifically state that a bent arm is chucking. I accept the physiological studies which show all bowlers bend their arm to some extent, but once you see it I think it is chucking. That is my opinion to which I am entitled. DRS is entirely different, as the laws define specific criteria for a wicket and therefore examining the data to see if that criteria is upheld is fair.
Old guy Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Law says bent arm beyond 15 degrees is chucking and actually not bent ...the law measures how much your straihten the arm and not just bending And if you are ok with umpire doing impossible calculations with their eyes and be done with it ..then I suppose you must be ok with umpires taking all decisions. They are both same things if you trait only human input in one instance you should have no problem with other too

Old guy Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Actually it's the playing conditions' date=' not the law that mention bent arms.[/quote'] What is your point ? People get banned over it ..it's simple to see if someone is bending arm but impossible to measure angle with naked eye . If you are arguing it's ok to ban bowlers with just input of umpire then it's ok for every decision they take as nothing is bigger than finish career of a player .

And so as soon as it is visible ban them. PLayers should not be able to get to test cricket with bent arms. They should learn to bowl straight from school onwards. I have no sympathy for people who can't actually bowl being told they cannot have a career in test cricket. it's why I have sat at the Oval and shouted No ball every time Botha Murali and Ajmal and senanayake bowled in front of me
