They are doing it mainly to have a settled life through corruption. They won't get caught. Even if they get caught they will have their party to bail them out. Ironically their leader could not get out easily.

Ironically their leader could not get out easily. 40+ people committed suicide, 130+ apparently died of shock when she was jailed. Instead of asking supporters to not take the extreme step when they were committing suicide, she uses it as pressure tactic for getting bail and uses the suicide numbers as proof of how honest she is and of the good work she has done for the people. According to the AIADMK statement, there were 17 self-immolations after her conviction while 20 hanged to death. Nine people took their lives by taking poison.
