Not even part of the BJP and part of the sena for close to 30 years. Then joins BJP and is now Railway min. Very capable man though. But thats why he lost in 2009. Did well for the nation serving in committees but ignored his constituency. Turns a safe Sena seat into a loss. Thats why he was denied a ticket in 2014.

UPA, which too had limited strength, tots up to 102 members, including 10 members nominated by President during its tenure. The next round of elections to the Rajya Sabha is slated for November, when 10 MPs from UP and one member from Uttarakhand would be elected. While the Uttarakahnd seat could go either way, given the unstable nature of the Congress government surviving on a wafer-thin majority, BJP's poor strength in the UP assembly would ensure that it would not be able to even elect a single MP from the state to the Upper House. The next round would be in November 2015, for eight seats from UPA ruled Kerala and Jammu & Kashmir and one from NDA-ruled Puducherry. Coincidence? The AIIMS whistle blower Sanjiv Chaturvedi, who had unearthed a record number of corruption and financial scams in his two years at AIIMS, was removed because of a request by JP Nadda. Nadda has now been made the Health Minister.

IF news reports are to be believed, Dr. Harshvardhan wasn't doing that good a job - its said that he is a doctor so he is too sympathetic towards doctors hence he may not have been the best person.

So he was made a member of the BJP Parliamentary Board and now a Minister.

Even though its a big state, since there is only one election in the whole year, it should not be a big burden. Delhi election is there but its obviously happening in 2-3 months so it will be over soon and its not a big state as well.
