theguyinallblue
Kumble seems to have some sort of vision ...and he has that stature in indian cricket that commands respect. he gives me an impression that he has some vision..and his thoughts are clear ... can he impose himself and his ideas on selectors.. IMO tests, ODI are two different games and need different sort of application and game... There are many players who are better players In tests...than they are in ODIs..and there are ODI specialists... can he differentiate between the type of players... clearly Badrinath..Rao...are sort of batsmen..who are way ahead of players like Yuvis..Raina or Tiwary.. will he choose Badrinath over Yuvi... dial_100
If anyone can be replaced from the test team is DK for now. Or come in as all rounder who can bat/bowl decent only someone like Kallis..or Freddy..... rest should stay calm and patient including their followers.. Rest. Just wait. Its a wrong era to take birth. Link to comment
theguyinallblue
No...actually my idea was..if there is a spot in the playing XI...vacant...for some reason.. then would Kumble Pick Badrinath ahead of Yuvi in tests..? Link to comment
bharat297
Exactly ... people here think that smashing 60 off 40 balls makes you such an awesome Test player. Link to comment
praveenj
Only after Gangully and Tendulkar voluntarily retire! By then, Kumble would have got retired... :P Link to comment
fineleg
badri seems to have ingredients for test player. however i bet u kumble will select YS first coz there is enormous pressure from mgmt, media, etc etc to select ys. he wont fight that sorta pressure. Link to comment
praveenj
Badrinath may not come into the team unless there is such a series that the mgmt would want to rest atleast 3 of its big players... Link to comment

fineleg
Of course' date=' if there is a chance of making a record why would you let it go??? :)[/quote'] they wont since they will look out for themselves wonly! however selectors should 'rest' them for 'meek series' and keep them for harder ones Link to comment
praveenj
they wont since they will look out for themselves wonly! however selectors should 'rest' them for 'meek series' hey, you can't say that... look at what happened at T20I WC... all three of them opted to be out of the side by themselves... that tells us the story, if they can't contribute to the team's victory, they would certainly try to get out of it... Ganguly clearly said he would have liked to play 2020 wc...check old news links. i posted them in icf a while back. besides u urself did say Of course, if there is a chance of making a record why would you let it go??? :)" These guys wont "opt out" of an easy series. 2020 was not "easy series". These guys will hog a series against Ban, Zim or Ken. You just have to drop them for such series - only way out. Link to comment
praveenj
well for the ganguly thing, he said such words only India won the cup... and what he said exactly was 'I wished I cud've been there...' who doesn't want to be in a winning side... and for the records thing, yes, nobody wants to drop an opportunity... praveenj
yes, done... selectors should create a picture that the big three are rested rather than dropped... :P Link to comment
The Outsider
Kumble himself took a long time to realize that he was done and dusted in ODIs for many years. Link to comment
praveenj
Kumble himself took a long time to realize that he was done and dusted in ODIs for many years. but he was well-handled by the mgmt... he was kept out of some odi's and he knew its no use waiting...and he quit... Link to comment
