ME is one of the most racist places, no freedom of expression, democracy, etc etc. US & Canada have their share of racism, but it is no more than what you face in Europe or Aus. In fact, it is probably better here except a few locations in the South and Midwest because America is more of a melting pot in ethnicity. Heck, India is one of most racist countries around. You think there is no discrimination in India? At least in America, you work hard and you make your future (speaking from personal experience), and yes, I have faced my share of subtle and overt racism when I was a grad student in a small rural town.
