ThePhenomenal1 Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 When india did it, all the critics could say is that we are home track bullies (despite winning wt20 in SA and CT13 in England). They tried to devalue the world cup win because it was won in india Now when Australia have done it (congrats btw), I don't see anyone saying that now or in the future... Why? A World Cup win is a World Cup win!
asehgal Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 fair point. However, I think the answer is Australia. They have won this thing practically everywhere. It would have been mentioned had nz been the victors.
CSK Fan Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 BTW, I think India winning was the first time a host nation ever won the cup, if I am not wrong
Royal Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 BTW' date=' I think India winning was the first time a host nation ever won the cup, if I am not wrong[/quote'] Correct
vijay50 Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 When india did it, all the critics could say is that we are home track bullies (despite winning wt20 in SA and CT13 in England). They tried to devalue the world cup win because it was won in india Now when Australia have done it (congrats btw), I don't see anyone saying that now or in the future... Why? A World Cup win is a World Cup win! Exactly. While Aus played well to get the WC, these useless critics mostly devalue anything won in the subcontinent, inspite of Aus producing similar pattas.
Crookbond Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Btw, Australia are the ONLY team to win a World Cup in all continents it has been hosted on.
vijay50 Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Btw' date=' Australia are the ONLY team to win a World Cup in all continents it has been hosted on.[/quote'] Aus had always been competitive and quality over several decades. There were some blips, but it is remarkable how quickly they came out of it to win another WC.Kudos.
CricketWise Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Australia have won in India, England, South Africa, West Indies and now in Australia!!! So it does not take anything away from them!
adi B Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 I don't remember many people saying India only won because it was played at home, rather we broke the jinx and were hailed as the first nation to win the wc at home, off course there will be some haters who'll always find ways to demean our achievements but they are in small numbers. Talking about aus, they have almost won the cup everywhere so they have the luxury of not getting criticized
special K Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Because India is a home track bully. Aus won it everywhere.
HippoSucks Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Because India is a home track bully. Aus won it everywhere. We got to the semifinals in Australia and only lost against the eventual winners... That too right after we were completely written off at the start of the tournament.
sourab10forever Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 BTW' date=' I think India winning was the first time a host nation ever won the cup, if I am not wrong[/quote'] Nope SL were.1996
BeautifulGame Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Nope SL were.1996 Co hosts .Only played QF at home so not much crowd pressure
Guldozer Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Err...because...this is the first time they won at home? They have a world cup win in 5 different continents.
Thalaiva Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 The op must be blind lol. Aussies have the record of winning the world cup in every continent lol, not just in Mumbai :giggle:
BlueBee Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 The op must be blind lol. Aussies have the record of winning the world cup in every continent lol' date=' not just in Mumbai :giggle:[/quote'] Just in Mumbai? Where were you in 1983? O' I guess you didn't follow Cricket then since your *****y Bangladesh team didn't know how to play it.
vamos_rafa Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 More than that, the kind of run fest this world cup has been, imagine this being there in SC. Goras would have written kilometers on how cricket has been killed with such pitches.
bulbul Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Just in Mumbai? Where were you in 1983? O' I guess you didn't follow Cricket then since your *****y Bangladesh team didn't know how to play it. Just curious where you are in 1983 ? :giggle:
