Marut Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 This is not an All Time Test XI. This is about two teams that could play out the most competitive test match ever. I have chosen to remove players who played before 1970 since most of the opinion about these players are highly subjective and most of us have not seen them play. Team A Gavaskar Hayden Dravid Richards (cpt) Lara Sangakkara (wk) Akram Warne Marshall McGrath Ambrose Reserves: Imran, Donald, Walsh, Chappell, Border, Pollock, Botham Team B Smith (cpt) Sehwag Kallis Tendulkar AB devilliers Gilchrist (wk) Hadlee Steyn Holding Murali Lillee Reserves: Waqar, Garner, Kapil, Ponting, S.Waugh, Amla, Miandad Which is the stronger team, and who will win under various match conditions? Please add other competitive face-offs!
BlueBee Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Flat Deck : TEAM B Green Deck : TEAM A Hard Deck : :hmmm: TEAM A Spinning Deck : TEAM B Therefore, TEAM A = TEAM B
MCGGG Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I'd give the edge to team B (just), purely because Hadlee was a better batsman than Wasim.
sage Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 ATG matches will never be competitive. Because inadvertently one of the match winners will fire and destroy the opposition

Dont fancy Team B openers in seaming conditions vs team A pace attack! Maybe Team A batting is a bit stronger. Kallis gives team B an edge though, effectively a 6th bowler. Two pretty balanced teams! Perhaps both teams could play with two spinners to play on flatter/spin friendly pitches - how about Kumble in for Holding and Saqlain or Vettori in for Ambrose
Scarves Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Waugh's Australia (1999/00) v. Ponting's Australia (2006/07)
