Secondly, they would have had a better chance if he was out on the first ball rather than what he did. His innings was worse than both him and the next guy getting a first ball duck. Thirdly, there is no use just batting 15 overs without doing anything in them. This approach was so absurd that I have to admit that 'fixing' is the only logical explanation for it, and this comment is coming from a guy who thinks the MI vs RR match was 100% legit (for reasons I explained elsewhere). I struggle to understand your logic! Gayle did not set out to bat for only nine overs. He set out to bat as many overs as possible. His intention was to play himself in and once he gets a feel of the wicket and the bowling, to launch an attack. Many of his innings follow this pattern. The difference was that yesterday Mumbai adopted a very unorthodox and yet very clever bowling plan to him, cleverly varying the pace , line and length they bowled to him, not allowing him to establish a rhythm. To suggest that fixing is the "cause" for this approach suggests to me that you may not know as much about cricket as you think .
