Starc will make a huge difference to this side. I'll replace Nechim with a batter with Weise bowling 4 overs. Rest the same as above

urbestfriend Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 one of the Aaron and Nechim needs to be dropped..Play Starc, weisa , Abdulla , Chahal..Fifth bowler could be Aaron, Patel or Dinda. Gayle needs to be told to go for his shots from word go.

rkt.india Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Looks like Gayle and Kohli screwed them. What's Kohli doing there? He is batting like ODIs in a T20 game. If you can't hit at Chinnaswamy then where. Look at that 6 from Rohit of Nechim, on bouncer, hitting edge of the sticker and still went for 6. This is how easy it is to hit 6s there.
Gaylism Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 People are being a bit harsh on Gayle. Gayle knows that he has to at least bat 15 overs in any game for RCB to have a chance. His approach has become more measured since 2012, because teams know, despite all the hype surrounding Kohli, Dilshan and to a lesser extent Devilliers, that if you dismiss Gayle early you win. Gayle is also aware of it and that is why on some occasions he falls in the trap of playing too tentatively when chasing a big total. Kohli's has a career IPL strike Rate of less than 125, in effect he hots a lot of pretty shots but is unable to improvise. On the other hand DeVilliers improvises too much yet still hits at a strike rate of 142, 15 points less than Chris Gayle. In his defence , it can be said that he bats too low.

DeVilliers is at #4 in my line-up. I feel that's the best spot for the best MO batsman in any T20 team. #4 gets into the game neither too early not too late. Badrinath at #7 is just a back-up. In the event of the main batters failing, he can at least get 35-45 runs in the last 5 overs batting with the tail.

What is this supposed to mean? In the first place, he batted only 9 and RCB had a chance. Secondly, they would have had a better chance if he was out on the first ball rather than what he did. His innings was worse than both him and the next guy getting a first ball duck. Thirdly, there is no use just batting 15 overs without doing anything in them. This approach was so absurd that I have to admit that 'fixing' is the only logical explanation for it, and this comment is coming from a guy who thinks the MI vs RR match was 100% legit (for reasons I explained elsewhere).
