bharat297
Who should be the reserve keeper? Parthiv Patel or Dinesh Karthik. I honestly am not sure. Link to comment
apocalypse
How about none of them Link to comment
bharat297
^ Ok if you dont want either ... then just post who you do want. I didn't think there was another keeper in contention. They are the only 2 reserve keepers in the squad of 24. Link to comment
Desi Cartman
parthiv .. cuz he is "supposed" to be in form plus he did ok on his last tour to Aus Link to comment
Sachinism
dont really know how parthiv's keeping has been, but his batting has been awesome and for that reason he deserves to go Link to comment
apocalypse
dont really know how parthiv's keeping has been' date=' but his batting has been awesome and for that reason he deserves to go[/quote'] as I said earlier also, he was uncomfortable against fast bowlers in Ranji. Most of the time he has scored runs against spinners and slow left armers. Link to comment

They are the only 2 reserve keepers in the squad of 24. We play Dhoni as keeper with Dravid keeping in few games. If there is any injury then call for cover. But instead of taking parthiv or karthik take a batsman to Aus Link to comment
guju24
has to be parthiv...i think karthik needs to be rested....BCCI has to start taking this decesion...if player dont perform then rest them..if they dont drop karthik then i guess player should stop playing in ranji...bez then their performance going for anything... bharat297
Its a close one. Remember Parthiv has been out of the international scene for 3 years. Link to comment
The Outsider
Karthik at his worst cannot match Dropthiv at his best. Link to comment
bharat297
I think Karthik is just low on confidence at the moment. The major advantage of picking Parthiv is that he is in better batting form, and he is a left-handed opener, meaning if he is called to open, we have a left-hand right hand combination. King
Karthik. Some one that has scored runs in South Africa and England has one bad series and he's going to be dumped. Just not good enough. It's not like Parthiv Patel hasn't enough chances, he sucked when he played for nearly 2 years. I hope Karthik is not dumped and is continued for couple more series. I'm sick of seeing new openers every other series and proven performers dumped after just one bad series. Link to comment
King
You guys are watching why I like Karthik right? When there is a need to be positive he really shows character. He's one gutsy cricketer. Link to comment
gator
i am backing KKD all the way.... he has proven himself and i dont need further confirmation of the fight in him and he has enuff skills.... this lad has the goods and will average over 40 consistently and tht is a valuable thing to have for an opener... Guest HariSampath
Parthiv Patel's average is 31.85, and he had played 19 tests all of them against Aus, Eng, Pak, NZ and WI, most tests played in Aus and NZ, and that too when he was paying at 7 and 8... considering KKD's avg is 31.66 and largely boosted by scores against BD.... its not too bad for PP , Parthiv averages MORE than KKD in tests Link to comment
Guest HariSampath
keeping record says that Parthiv has 46 dismissals in 19 games and KKD has 44 dismissals in 18 games . KKD is not a specialist keeper compared to parthiv...and as a batsman, his claims and record is very marginal, current form being very poor. Parthiv has been getting big 100s and 200s for India A, is a better keeper and has played all his tests against better teams, done well down under Link to comment
Guest HariSampath
Parthiv has scored 823 runs in last 7 first class innings, 5 consequetive 100s and a 179 and a fifty in the Irani trophy which he won....Patel's claims on past international record, current form with bat, and also better keeping claims will clinch him the place Link to comment
Tapioca
Useless stats : Kartik is on the verge of completing 100 byes against Pakistan in only 4 Tests. He gave away 62 byes in the three Tests of 2004/05 (the fourth worst ever for a 3 match series), and 35 in the first innings here. Link to comment
Guest HariSampath
KKD can be taken as a keeper if we have another "long wicket keeper " like in galli cricket Link to comment
The Outsider
I don't give a damn about byes when the other option is Dropthiv. Link to comment
