Gollum Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 11 Indians joined ISIS killers, 6 of them from Gulf: IB - A total of 11 Indians, including the four youth from Kalyan in Maharashtra, had joined the global terror group, Islamic State (IS). - Five Indians have died in the Iraq-Syria war zone fighting for the jihadi group in its attempt to establish a caliphate. - While Areeb Majeed, one of the Kalyan youth, returned to India and was taken into custody by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), five Indians are still fighting the 'holy war', according to the intelligence inputs gathered. - Those who have been identified as dead include Faiz Masood from Bangalore, Sahim Farooq Tanki from Kalyan and Abdul Qadir Sultan Armar, a former SIMI leader from Bhatkal in Karnataka. - Last month Haneef Waseem, a student from Hyderabad who had gone to London for higher studies, had also reportedly died while fighting in Syria. - The information gathered by the Intelligence Bureau and mentioned in its secret report states that five of the 11 men had been living in the Gulf countries for some time and originally belonged to South India. - Sources in the agency said there have been no reports of any Indian joining the Islamic State in the past six months. "The Indian youth are not getting attracted to the appeals being made by the IS now. This is a good sign and there have been no fresh cases of Indians joining the group," said an intelligence official. - There have also been intelligence inputs that some other Indians, who are still fighting for the Sunni group, are desperate to come back. To this end, they have been in touch with their families to request them to facilitate their return. An intelligence input also indicated that one of these Indians had even tried to escape from the group, but was not successful. - Intelligence agencies have been keeping a close watch on the suspicious activities of some IS sympathizers in India. A few months back, intelligence agencies had identified IS sympathizers across the country as part of an ongoing operation to crack down on the activities of these fringe elements. Around 35 self-radicalized jihadis were identified for spreading the venomous dogma of IS, according to recent intelligence reports. - Some elements active in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore and Hyderabad, who are on a recruitment spree in the name of IS and have been termed "IS sympathisers", are on the list of intelligence agencies. http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/islamic-state-indians-intelligence-report-iraq-syria/1/441825.html http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Of-11-Indians-in-ISIS-6-were-from-Gulf/articleshow/47521742.cms

Gollum Posted June 11, 2015 Author Posted June 11, 2015 Three ISIS Recruits From Karnataka Dead, Says IB Report BENGALURU/NEW DELHI: Three youths from Karnataka, including two from Bengaluru, have died fighting for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). A recent Intelligence Bureau (IB) report from Delhi has confirmed they joined the terror group a couple of years ago, and died in Iraq and Syria. The report identified them as Faiz Masood of Cooke Town, Umar Subhan of Shivaji Nagar (both in Bengaluru) and Abdul Khuddus Turki of Vijayapura in north Karnataka. All three died during coalition strikes against the ISIS, the report stated. While Faiz left India for Qatar and subsequently Syria in September 2013, after having applied for a passport in July the same year, Umar travelled to Yemen in 2008, and later joined the ISIS. The report states that Faiz, after reaching Syria, joined the ISIS. He was one of about 12,000 recruits from 81 countries. Sources tracking the jihadis from India said Turki was also among them. According to intelligence inputs, he travelled to Saudi Arabia in July 2014 and subsequently left for Iraq to join the ISIS. Bengaluru Homes Express visited the houses of Faiz and Umar in Bengaluru on Tuesday. While Umar’s family has been evicted from the building for not paying rent for almost 15 years, members of Faiz’s family refused to speak to the reporter. “I do not want to talk about him (Faiz). I do not want any news about him. There is nothing to discuss further,” said a man at the house. The Karnataka youths went to the war zone much before Bengaluru police arrested alleged ISIS propagandist Mehdi Masroor Biswas in December last year. The state intelligence department and Bengaluru police have no clue about their movements or their death. “We recently received reports from Central agencies about two or three youths who died fighting for the ISIS. We have no confirmation they were from Karnataka,” a senior officer with the state intelligence told Express. Coastal Link: Another recruit from south India — Abu Tahir from Palakkad — has also reportedly died fighting in the terror zones of Syria and Iraq. Agencies had earlier confirmed that Sultan Armar, a former Indian Mujahideen operative-turned-ISIS recruit from Bhatkal, may also have been killed in Kobane while fighting alongside the ISIS. Among 11 Indian ISIS recruits identified by the intelligence agencies, four were learnt to be from Karnataka. Areeb Majeed, a recruit from Maharashtra, chose to return to India after he sustained injuries in Iraq and Syria. However, sources believe at least five Indians remain in ISIS-dominated territories. Optimistic View: Indian intelligence agencies believe the influence of ISIS is waning. “It is clear that their propaganda doesn’t appeal to Indian youth. The few who joined them are believed to be on the way out. Majeed, who returned to India, told interrogators that the ground reality was the mirror opposite of ISIS propaganda,” said a source. Biswas Case: The news about the death of Indian youths in Iraq and Syria comes days after the City Crime Branch (CCB) filed a chargesheet against Masroor Mehdi Biswas, a resident of Bengaluru, who was allegedly tweeting in favour of ISIS. The chargesheet, filed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967 on June 1, contains about 36,500 pages and 1.22 lakh tweets http://www.newindianexpress.com/cities/bengaluru/Three-ISIS-Recruits-From-Karnataka-Dead-Says-IB-Report/2015/06/10/article2858751.ece
Khalpat Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 http://www.ndtv.com/india-news/islamic-state-preparing-to-attack-india-reports-1201699?pfrom=home-lateststories Washington: The ISIS is preparing to attack India to provoke an Armageddon-like confrontation with the US, according to an internal recruitment document of the feared group which also seeks to unite the Pakistani and Afghan Taliban into a single army of terrorists. An investigative story published yesterday by the USA Today and reported by the American Media Institute refers to a 32- page Urdu document obtained from a Pakistani citizen with connections inside the Pakistani Taliban. "The document warns that 'preparations' for an attack in India are underway and predicts that an attack will provoke an apocalyptic confrontation with America," the report said. "Even if the US tries to attack with all its allies, which undoubtedly it will, the ummah (Muslims) will be united, resulting in the final battle," it added. The document, according to the report, was independently translated into English by a Harvard scholar and verified by several serving and retired intelligence officials. Bruce Riedel, a retired CIA official and now a senior fellow at the Brookings Institute, said striking in India would magnify the ISIS' stature and threaten the stability of the region. "Attacking in India is the Holy Grail of South Asian jihadists," he was quoted as saying. The undated document is titled 'A Brief History of the Islamic State Caliphate, The Caliphate According to the Prophet.' It seeks to unite dozens of factions of the Pakistani and Afghan Taliban into a single army of terror, the daily said. "It includes a never-before-seen history of the Islamic State, details chilling future battle plans, urges al-Qaeda to join the group and says the Islamic State's leader should be recognized as the sole ruler of the world's 1 billion Muslims under a religious empire called a 'caliphate'," it said. Aware of the ISIS' presence in Afghanistan, the White House said it is closely monitoring the situation. The document was reviewed by three US intelligence officials, who said they believe the document is authentic based on its unique markings and the fact that language used to describe leaders, the writing style and religious wording match other documents from the ISIS, USA Today added. Now this is scary.

He was attracted to the ideologies of the ISIS through social media during that time. A 24-year-old former journalist from Kerala is working with the ISIS, according to intelligence officials. Officials say he joined ISIS about a year ago. He was working at a regional newspaper in Palakkad district of Kerala and then left to Qatar to work as an international reporter for the same newspaper. The newspaper is run by the National Development Front, a organisation in Kerala set up to focus on socio-economic issues of minorities with special focus on Muslims in Kerala. After working in Palakkad, he left to Qatar and then Doha where he was also working as an accountant and DTP operator after which he left to Syria. He put out inflammatory posts on Facebook starting November 2014. Some of the posts (attached) showed pictures of those fighting with him in Syria, videos of Jihadis including children, posts welcoming Muslims across the world to join the holy war etc. One post with pictures of dead children was addressed to Janam TV and said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Syrian president Basha Al Ashad were the same just that they were born to different parents. The account in the name of "Thahir Hasan" has been deactivated. After he came under the scanner, he has been on and off the radar. One post by him has claimed that he does not work for the Islamic state (which kills "innocent Muslims") but for the Syrian wing of Al Qaeda. He received a degree (BA Sociology) from the Green Valley Academy in Manjeri near Malappuram. The academy that taught him his degree course did so without any fee. Having studied in a reputed school he also knew good English. The role of the academy is also under scanner. This academy is also said to be run by the NDF and has been raided in the past for suspected recruiting activities. http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/isis-snares-former-malayali-journalist-widens-net-for-indian-professionals/1/456565.html
